It is a key box, Not much more to be said. Has your pins and gear and tools. secure little box. Been using this set for many years as a Property Maintenance tech. Has everything you would need for a kwikset lock system. I wish they put more pins in, but pins are pretty cheap, so I really dont have any complaints

Someone tried to break into our house (we think they had a key). So instead of paying over $100 to have someone rekey them, I figured I would do it myself for only $80 and some of my time.This locking set is GREAT! Comes with extra springs and housing for the pins, which was important since my first keying attempt was a journey. After you rekey one lock, you can do other locks in a couple of minutes.Word of Advise: I have a Kwikset knob lock I needed to rekey. The directions and online guides say you must press a spring in the back of the lock to release it from the knob. After hours of trying to engage this spring, I found a little known fact that some of their Ultramax Knob sets only require you to release the lock in the back, then insert the key and turn it 180 Degrees. The lock will pop right out (no spring to engage)! Double check this before you waste hours trying to engage a spring that isn't there.Overall, this Keying Kit is well worth the money!

This Kit has everything you need to do some master locksmithing on Kwikset locks (anybody else notice the typo in the product title?). I used an older version of this kit back in the mid-90s when I worked as a handy man for apartment complexes. I've wanted to have my own set ever since, and now I finally do. I just re-keyed my whole house this weekend & taught my kids how locks work - a lot of fun. The kit comes with instructions, which surprised me (I had to figure it out by trial & error back in the day). Regardless, I'm sure there are better instructions on YouTube these days.You can do it all with this kit: re-key locks, repair locks, make a master key, make a construction key, upgrade your top pins to the newer anti-pick style, etc. This is a professional kit and I'm having fun pretending to be a pro!

This is an expensive set, but if you need to re-key more than a few locks this is worth it. This is listed as a Kwikset, but there are other Kwikset compatible locks this should work on but I had to drill out the cylinder follower a bit to make room for an extension off the back of one of the compatible lock set deadbolts. This kit makes it easy for almost anyone to re-key their Kwikset locks, just got to have some patience.

We have a rental house in addition to multiple door locks on outdoor storage units so it was a real money saver to acquire this kit instead of going to the hardware store and paying $15 per lock to have them re-key the lock. The color-coded pins make it super simple to re-key a lock in just a couple of minutes, literally. The included directions explain all the details of disassembling a lock, how to re-key one, and get it put back together again. I changed the locks on our front door (knob and deadbolt), basement entrance door (also with deadbolt) to all match so now I only need one key for all four locks. I've just about paid for the kit in labor and time savings alone.This is the EXACT same kit that our local hardware store uses and I'm VERY happy I won't ever be giving them any more of my money to re-key locks for us.

Just as advertised this kit allows you to re-key Kwikset style locks. use it for a few locks and you already made back the money compared to hiring a "lock smith". It comes in a very sturdy case which prevents the pins from spilling. It includes everything (tools) you need to re-key (which is really easy).*The only thing to keep in mind is that you need a working key to the lock to begin with to get the cylinder out.* If you (like me) have boxes full of old locks you want to re-use, but cant locate the keys you will probably also want to buy a pick tool to be able to pick the lock open and take out the cylinders without disturbing the top pins.(I also rekeyed Slage and Duraset, which worked fine)

It's already paid for itself and more. An ex-friend of mine was going to do some work for me and he asked for the key to my home so that he could use restroom while I wasn't there. Well trusting him with the key to my home was a mistake. He made off with the $3250. I gave to him to start the job and he never started. I bought this re-keying kit to change the key instead of replacing the six lock-sets. I've since had to re-key all the locks on a rental property. I'm recycling the pins so there's actually no telling how much money I will save myself with this kit. A must have if you occasionally want to re-key your locks because of lost or misplaced keys or being stupid enough to trust a friend.

This kit worked perfectly for my kwikset locks. Great for rental properties. You can rekey the locks to fit any key and also to use a master key to fit multiple locks which is great when you have several rent houses. The instructions are not as thorough as I’d like but videos on you tube will help if you have a hard time at first. Also there are enough supplies to rekey a ton of locks.
