Fantastic little air purifier!
For my needs, this air purifier has worked perfectly! So far, I've had it for two days. I have an 800sq.ft townhome with me and my boyfriend and our three cats living in it. I have bad allergies to pollens and very slight allergies to cats (can you imagine how much 3 can affect you after a week or two of hair!) and one of my cats has asthma. I purchased this with the intention of helping her asthma and my allergies, and it has seemed to do both.Pros:Seems to work really well!Compared to other models and brands that cover this area, inexpensiveSuper quietCovers a fairly large areaUnit is smaller than I expected it to beHas multiple options for fan speed and ozoneHas a timer (I don't use this though)Tends to make the house slightly cooler (this is a pro for me, as bf gets hot in the house, so he liked this)Clears odors quicklyClear, consise, helpful manual3 year warranty90 day warranty on filter and UV lampUV lamp and filter aren't that expensive to replaceCons:No filter replacement lightDust seems to collect around casing occasionallyHave to leave it on high to get 90cfm (6 air recycles per hour in my home)Overall, I feel pretty happy about this purchase. I feel like it does help my allergies, my cat's asthma, and any odors in the house are quickly gone. I would definitely recommend this!

Not effective - but could be my situation
I live in a basement without any circulation. The main air conditioning/heating does not get to my room. I have a pet rabbit who it turns out I am mildly allergic to. I wake up congested sometimes. The air filter did not fix the problem. The only thing that fixed the problem is me leaving my door open during the day to get some circulation. My room is just an average bedroom. And yes, I did unwrap the filter before putting it in.

Jury is still out
I had first tried to order this unit (XJ-3000D) directly from Surround Air, but was told they were out of stock. Going to Amazon I seen I could order the same D model from them thru " AirPurifierSource" . Which I did and received it in due time. Upon unpacking the unit I found it strange that the packing list and other info seemed to be from Surround Air with a description of one a Purestar XJ-3000D air purifier. Now, Surround Air had said they only had the C model, that the D model was out of stock, yet this unit I received had paperwork stating it was a D model. This all gave me a warm feeling. After unpacking the unit , removing the items from the filter & installed and plugged the unit in to test. Set it up in a bed room, but not checking the ozone out put at the time. Day later my wife had turned the sanitizer ( Ozone ) on, I checked the room an hour or so later to find the unit wasn't producing ( out putting ) any ozone., Brand new unit.I've contacted AirPurifier Source and they tell me they have contacted Surround Air to begin my refund and return process of the defective unit. I opted for refund rather then a replacement, as stated above having a warm feeling of the whole deal. Some thing didn!t seem right, that's why the two star rating. The customer service folks at AirPurifier Source have been good to deal with, hopefully this all comes to a good conclusion. HZFollow up here, I sent the unit back and my account is to be credited.the one black spot I would mention would be I had to pay for the return. The company Air purifier Source did include in the refund a sum to cover the shipping. It wasn't enought to cover the full amount, but what can I say. Maybe to myself that in the future items I order thru Amazon, will be from Amazon and not a third party vendor.

Not Really Sure
I've waited 6 weeks or so to write this review to give this item a chance to work. First I used in it my bedroom, which just about matches the dimensions it is supposed to be able to clean. I noticed some difference in the amount of dust that settled next to it but not overall in my room. Nor did I feel it changed my allergy symptoms much when I woke up.Then I tried it in my living room, within about 8 feet of where I sit when I am awake, on the high setting. There it did help. I have definitely felt a change in my allergies (symptoms pretty much gone)when I do that. If I can find a convenient place to put it permently near me in the living room I might do that. It is pretty compact, but on high it is a little noisy for the living room - yes, it is white noise, kind of like a refrigerator humming or the faucet on -- but it is definitely loud enough on high to use it only when you are alone. I haven't tried the lower settings yet to see if it works that well that close to me.
