Very good!
This might be one of the best short histories I have read to date. It went far beyond the normal tale of Genghis Kahn and related the entire history of the Mongol rise to power and their decline. I never realized how long it actually took them to conquer the vast territory they did. There are enough facts, maps and information in this book for a solid basic knowledge of the Mongols history. It is well written has a large number of footnotes.

Very informative, very well written, great read
The Mongol Conquests is very well written, well documented history that strives to give a comprehensive and contextual story of the Mongol achievements and influence. The writing is well edited, clear and supported with maps . I highly recommend this book.

Story of a vast empire
As usual this captivating history was concise,precise and full of much history. The Mongols were more than the popular myths of plunder and blood. From the mind of Genghis Khan came the light horse cavalry ,a law code,methods of assimilating conquered men into the Mongols hoard,battle plans of intelligence gathering,adoption of technology and language and arts from conquered peoples and so much more!As for the achievements of the sons and grandsons ,I advise forming a genealogy table to track the locations and battles of each one else you get lost in too much detail. The maps are essential and the illustrations are beautiful.I am going to read a companion book on Genghis Khan- there is so much to this history.

Short yet informative
Sometimes you just need to get the essentials of an historical period and this book will give you a basic understanding that you can add to later. It was worth my money and time.
