Q: Is the drywall opening the advertised size of the door - for example the 8X8 inch access door is the opening 8 X 8 or less?

I don't know if this will reassure you, but I purchased a 12" x 12" and it fits my 12" x 12" hole in the wall pretty much exactly. Now, the access door when open is @ an 11.25" x 11.25" opening/access. Hope this helps.

Q: How difficult is it to remove the door when needed? I have a toilet near the wall and it may not allow the door to swing open fully. thanks

Fairly easy. Once the door is hinged open, you can gently bow it in, in the middle, so the top and bottom pull in slightly, allowing you to pull one of the door pins out of the hole in the frame. Just be gentle and careful, watch whats happening, and don't force it. It goes back in the same way -- insert the lower pin in the bottom of the frame, bring the upper pin close to the top hole, flex / bow the door slightly, just enough to slip the top pin into the top hole, then swing the door closed.
