Good looking very useful lamp.
Beautiful simple design and inexpensive, but you need to assemble it yourself. One drawback is that the shades for the lamp are very thick, so the light coming through is fairly dim. A 60 watt incandescent will barely light a room except as a mood light. So I put in a 60 watt LED rated at 6000 lumens. This combo lights a family room very well, enough to read a book at the other end. There are 3 small shelves which are very handy for displaying items or putting books or photos on.After having and using it for a few months I like it even more and I realized my criticism about it being too dim with a 60 watt bulb is unfair, since it advertised as a mood lamp. Hence 5 stars.

Great!!!
I had always planned on having shelves built in in my niches on each side of my living room fireplace, but that never happened. I saw these, and based on the price, I figured, "what the h**l have I got to lose?" I ordered two, they arrived promptly and in good condition, and were simple (and, admittedly, based on the outcome, enjoyable) to assemble. They work great with my room's contemporary/zen decor.

Can't beat the value
I find building well-machined furniture to be a relaxing exercise. Part puzzle, part body contortion. If I could build a piece of furniture every day and not have a home filled with unnecessary furniture, I would.Building this was a breeze--until the end. I have an office in my apartment with no overhead lighting and decided after six months that writing and gaming in the dark at night was just too much.If you read through the instructions and build this as suggested, you're fine - until attaching the base. Perhaps my hardware was lacking the right length screws, perhaps there's a flaw. $1.25 at the hardware store later, I was good to go.It's a solid piece of furniture, its small base doesn't make it prone to wobbling, the instructions make sense and nothing feels off. I use the shelves to hold my gaming headphones, pilot joystick and Wifi router.

Went together fairly easily, the second lamp was a little roughed up ...
Purchased two of these. Went together fairly easily, the second lamp was a little roughed up on a corner and had one wobbly pole, but once assembled and tightened up, there's no instability and you can't see the corner. They look great, but the shades do block quite a bit of light. If used as the primary lighting in a room, be ready to stick a high-output bulb in it - a 60W-equivalent CFL is going to be fairly dim. I'd recommend looking for a 100W-equivalent LED A19 bulb (there are a few on Amazon); with that change, two of these lamps are enough for our living room after dark.

Good looking shelf with dim lamp brightness.
The pluses: it's very decorative, the shelves allow you to put small items or knick knacks, you can get it in different colors and it has an Asian style. The lamp reminds me of my Japanese lamp with the white paper in the bulb casing to dim the light. The Minus: it's not built to last, you cannot put heavy items on the shelves, it's made out of particle board or thinner wood pieces, and the light brightness is always muted, no matter which bulb I put in.If you need the lamp feature to brighten the room. Look elsewhere. This shelf lamp is more decorative than it is functional.4/10/18. Update. I bought a bulb socket extender which helps to make the lamp brighter.

This is beautiful, but flimsy
This is beautiful, but flimsy. Broke one of the little wooden legs even though I went slowly and methodically because I'd read another review where this had happened to someone else. Had to use packing tape to put the pieces of the leg back together because the top is just shattered. The shelves don't take much weight so you have to be careful what you put on here, but if you use it for picture frames and little things like they have in the picture you'll be fine. But it is very beautiful and I do like it. I do wish it were cheaper, again, considering that it's not very strong.

Good first attempt!
It is a wonderful concept and a new product line as far as I can tell. As a new product it is good. Some wood, some plastic . Puts together easily. the panels on the top are simple printer paper. That lends itself to the idea of upscaling the lamp to replace the paper with good stuff---tiffany style glass panels, other more sturdy and decorative panels, etc. The company could even give the consumer the choice of the kind of panels they would like---paper, glass, plastic---and charge accordingly. Also, if we could order different heights of the constructed lamp that would be good. Maybe different numbers of shelves?? And if the bottom was constructed more sturdily, more weight, that would be better for its stability. But all in all it's a good first product. It's really pretty and doesn't give that harsh glare of light that down lamps do yet there is enough light to read by.

For the price, it's a good value and adequate.
I assembled this lamp and it took a bit longer than anticipated. It sits in a carpeted room in a corner at the end of a loveseat. It suits me, but if you have little kids, I'd be a bit leery since it seems like it might tip over. And maybe on hardwood flooring it would be more stable? It has a nice couple of shelves and fits in to my little nook area to read by. I like the design, it looks nice with our decor. This Brightech - Maxwell Shelf Floor Lamp is by no means a flood lamp, rather ambient, but I can sit right next to it and read, knit and so forth. For the price, it's a good value and adequate.
