A Holly Dolly Christmas

My grandaughter loved this cd big fan of Dolly Parton.

At the age of 74 Dolly has recorded a sensational Christmas Album, with the help of a few friends. Miley Cyrus, Michael Buble (this track could turn out to be s standard in years to come), Jimmy Fallon, Billy Ray Cyrus, Willie Nelson and Randy Parton. On listening I felt that it was a lot of fun recording this collection.A few familiar songs, `Holly Jolly Christmas`, `All I Want For Christmas Is You` ,`Comin` Home For Christmas`, `Pretty Paper`, `I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus`, `Christmas Where We Are` and `Mary Did You Know?`. The rest written by the lady herself. A festive collection that is not out of place anytime, sung as always , with the right emotion. I will probably wear this CD out before Christmas.

Another great cd from the legend that is Dolly PartonWhat’s not too like Christmas and Dolly Parton.This album is perfect for the Christmas period.It has a mixture of Christmas classic and brand new Christmas songs.My personal favourites are circle of love, all I want for Christmas and pretty paper.The album is full of amazing duets and will be well played this Christmas and Christmases to come.

Good range of songs.

I've been a Dolly fan since I was a small child, ever since I can remember. I have all her albums and I was so thrilled to hear that she was releasing another Christmas Album. It really was worth the 30year wait. This album is beautiful and it's fun and it'll take you to your Christmas Happy Place. I'd give it 10 stars if I could. Thank you Dolly.

I am completely in love with this album! It's been on repeat in my car since it arrived. If you are a Dolly fan (who isn't) or a Christmas fan (who isn't) or both, like me, give yourself, or someone you love an early Christmas present and buy this right now!! Awesome original songs and some classics with a festive Dolly twist & some fabulous duets with famous friends. It's awesome 💗

As Edward Norton said about this record: "Dolly just saved Christmas - I love you, Dolly!" It could have done with more songs, obviously (;-)), but otherwise I have no complaints. The deep red vinyl itself is amazing too btw and the songs are a joy to listen to. I have lost count how often we had this beauty on repeat.

Obwohl ich sehr Rock/Hardrock/Heavy Metall-lastig bin, habe ich dennoch einen sehr breiten Musikgeschmack. Zum Glück, denn sonst würde man etliche gute Songs verpassen. Aus dem Rockbereich haben mich bisher nur Trans-Siberian Orchestra mit Weihnachtsliedern- und Alben gefallen. Weihnachtsalben anderer Künstler wie Twisted Sister, Helix und REO Speedwagen haben mir nicht so gefallen. Selten passt der harte Sound richtig zu einem besinnlichen Weihnachtslied. Aus anderen Genres dagegen gab es richtig tolle Weihnahtsalben. Vor allem Sarah McLachlan hat mit WINTERSONG und WONDERLAND zwei starke Alben hierzu heraus gebracht. Auch Kylie Minouge hat mit CHRISTMAS (die SNOW QUEEN EDITION) ein tolles Weihnachtsalbum herausgebracht und mit den beiden Covern ONLY YOU und STAY NOW zwei Nicht-weihnachtliche Songs in ein unglaublich tolles Weihnachtsgewand verpackt.Von daher habe ich mir von der Country-Ikone Dolly Parton ihr Weihnachtsalbum ungehört zugelegt. Es war ein sehr guter Kauf. 12 Weihnachtssongs werden hier liebevoll und mit viel Gefühl vorgetragen. Das Album kann man zur Vorweihnachtszeit und an den Feiertagen perfekt im Hintergrund laufen lassen. Es ist besinnlich, festlich, dann und wann triefend vor Schmalz (gehört aber zwingend dazu), sehr interessant umgesetzt und mit vielen Gastsängern aufgenommen.Das festliche Album enthält etliche zeitlose Weihnachtslieder sowie einige Originaltitel von Dolly. Darunter sich auch Duette mit Michael Bublé ( CUDDLE UP, COZY DOWN), Billy Ray Cyrus (CHRISTMAS WERE WE ARE), Miley Cyrus (CHRISTMAS IS), Jimmy Fallon (ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU) und Willie Nelson (PRETTY PAPER), sowie ein Song mit ihrem Bruder Randy Parton (YOU ARE MY CHRISTMAS).Das absolute Highlight des Albums, und passend als letzter Song, ist die Killer-Version von „MARY, DID YOU KNOW?“. Dieses Weihnachtlied wurde 1984 geschrieben, die Lyrics kamen aber erst 1991 dazu und wurde erstmals von Michael English veröffentlicht. Es gibt etliche Cover. Darunter von Kenny Rogers und die sehr gut gemachte a-cappella Version von Pentatonix. Doch Partons Version ist für mich der absolute Knaller. Text und Musik harmonieren sowas von perfekt zusammen.Das ganze Album ist super und kann locker mehrmals am Stück in Gänze laufen. Dennoch gibt es ein paar Songs, die etwas herausragen: CHRISTMAS IS, CHRISTMAS ON THE SQUARE, CIRCLE OF LOVE, COMIN‘ HOME FOR CHRISTMAS und YOU ARE MY CHRISTMAS.Inspiriert wurde Dolly Parton von der aktuellen, pandemiebedingten Lage in der Welt. Weil aus ihrer Sicht dieses Weihnachten wahrscheinlich anders als üblich ablaufen wird lag es ihr sehr am Herzen, hier dennoch mit weihnachtlichen Songs trotzdem Freude zu bereiten. Dabei hat Parton die Hoffnung, dass der ein oder andere Song ein Weihnachtsklassiker wird. MARY, DID YOU KNOW? könnte einer werden.A HOLLY DOLLY CHRISTMAS ist Dollys drittes Weihnachtsalbum. Vor 30 Jahren kam das erste Album HOME FOR CHRISTMAS heraus. Das erste Weihnachtsalbum ONCE UPON A CHRISTMAS erschien 1984. So toll wie das aktuelle Album geworden ist, werde ich mir diese beiden auch noch holen. Klare Empfehlung und weihnachtliche 5 Sterne.

Dolly Parton, c'est une voix reconnaissable entre mille , une personnalité exceptionnelle et attachante, un vrai talent de parolière et de compositrice, une véritable icône . Et cet album , comme les autres, est un bijou.
