Never upholstered before. These squeeze a HOG RING (used for fencing or upholstery or fastening chicken wire, etc.) They do ONE ring at a time. They do get into TIGHT spaces. And I had TIGHT spaces on a Vehicle Seat that I was dealing with. My wife and I - made some cracks about how the cheap China ones might work. Haven't used them. But this particular job took time and was hard enough - without also fighting the tool. I highly recommend these quality Hog Ring pliers - if you're in the market for this type of Plier. And if your using Hog Rings on something - you NEED Hog Ring pliers.

I debated getting these for a long time and I am still on the fence. No doubt they are excellent quality and feel nice to use. However, the offset from the front of the jaw to where the ring is held is a bit excessive, making automotive upholstery difficult where thick foam has to be compressed before the ring is squeezed. I wasted a lot of rings and in a couple spots had to switch to a very old and worn pair, I almost ground off some of the nose of these to improve their performance. So, they will likely last me a lifetime, but don’t quite work as well as my old very worn set.

This was the first time I’ve installed car upholstery or used hog rings. However, I’ve always appreciated quality tools, and I don’t mind investing in something that can make a job go smoothly. These pliers are the real deal! I could tell they were high quality before taking them out of the package. Right from the start, the angled head and precision craftsmanship made the job a breeze! I was hesitant to spend this much money on a tool that I thought I would use once, but after reading other reviews, I decided to give them a try. Wow, I’m glad I did! I’ve already found a few other projects to use them on, and I have no doubt they’ll last longer than I will!

I was looking for a high-quality, tough, USA-made alternative to the other junk that was out there and I'm HIGHLY pleased with these pliers. I used them along with 50 QTY:C.S. Osborne & Co. No.1444SS Stainless Steel Hog Rings - 3/4" MPN#14600 to attach 2x4 no-climb fencing to cattle panel (see pic) and everything worked just as I had hoped. I had also ordered the C. S. OSBORNE 1440-AC - HOG RING PLIER, STRAIGHT HANDLE, CLOSING SPRING but I found that the curved pliers allowed me to get different angles and it was easier to get into tight places. I also prefer that the pliers spring open to allow me to load another hog ring. I've already found several other uses for the pliers/hog rings and I just placed an order for a whole bunch more of the SS hog rings. Hope this helps.
