Good antenna but better on VHF than UHF
Better performance and SWR on 2m than 70cm in my case. I have it mounted off-center on an SUV roof. Good antenna overall though. Looks like a basic 1/4-wave VHF.2m: SWR perfect 1.01, goes up slightly at high power, Tx very good, Rx very good70cm: SWR 1.34, goes up slightly at high power, Tx good, Rx fair/noisy.

Great antennas.
This review is for the the Magnet Mount dual band version. Great little antennas. I specifically like them because of the wider base over say a Diamond. It's not going anywhere. I like the adapter for your HT as well though I am not too confident on them lasting. I have one on the car and one on top of a metal safe in my house. Both work great for local nets and simplex. Works good enough on GMRS too with a bit higher SWR but still in working range. If I was mainly using it for GMRS I would get the GMRS specific one they make though.

Great antenna!
Great design with powerful magnet base. Sufficient coaxial cable for most installations. Add a highly visible colored ping pong ball and you'll always know where your car is in a parking lot. K8KIZ

Decent
Worked well for me. Magnet is strong and I’m able to pick up all my local repeaters. For the price, can’t complain. Haven’t got around to checking SWR.

Good quality
I bought one before and forgot to tighten the top part of it down and it fell off the truck so I ordered another one to replace it. It has a strong magnet and works really good with the radio

Great quality
It is designed for both amateur radio and general communications use, featuring a strong build that can withstand outdoor conditions. With a 2m/70cm dual-band frequency range, it delivers good signal reception and transmission quality, making it a popular choice for mobile operations. The antenna is easy to install and offers a decent balance between performance and convenience, although it may not offer the same high-end performance as larger antennas. Overall, the Nagoya UT-72 is a reliable and affordable option for radio enthusiasts who need a portable antenna solution.

A solid performer
I own 3 of these. 2 mounted on vehicles, the 3rd is being used as a base station antenna. They are stellar performers. The 2 meter band and murs has a flat 1.0 swr.70 centimeter has an swr of 1.0. The gmrs has a maximum swr of 1.2.I am able to make solid uhf repeater hits up to 40 miles away. This is a quality dual-band mobile antenna.

Good build, gain figures misleading
UT-308 UV.Gain figures are misleading in the description. Stated plainly as "1.7 - 4.15", it should read "1.7(VHF) / 4.15(UHF)". I expected more gain on 2 meters than 1.7. My Nagoya 771 hits stronger. I'll keep it inside the car until I need it. Then it's a simple matter of opening the sun roof and reaching backward through it to mount it in the middle of the roof. Then I close the sun roof with about an inch of gap for a more solid ground plane.Build quality looks good, powder coating is smooth and flawless, and the SMA Female connector seems attached strongly to the cable. I have no use for the separate extension, but I'll toss it into my parts drawer. Haven't had a chance to test SWR or power out yet.I keep the antenna element inside a length of 7/16" PVC pipe with end caps to protect it. I also stuck a length of black reinforced vinyl electrical tape across/onto the bottom of the rubber cup insulator that surrounds the magnet ... with an inch tab of the tape projecting out from under the mount to aid in removing the antenna from the roof. Fold the projecting electrical tape back onto itself to form the tab. I don't like straining the mounting boss atop the mount to pry that magnet loose from the roof; as other reviews testify, it is very strong. For quick comms, I intend to use my Nagoya NA-771 mounted on my Baofeng BF F8HP Pro poking up all the way through the open sun roof before I go through the bother of setting this one up on the roof. For more involved comms and to avoid my arm getting tired, this UT-308UV will fit the bill, I think, notwithstanding the low 2 meter gain figure.
