76562 Coil Over Plug Quick Probe with Variable Sensitivity

Today I tested three automobiles: One was a Ford 150 with 8 cylinders. Tested all eight Coil On Plug (Coil Over Plug) coils in about 3 minutes! All tested good. Tested a Ford 6 Cylinder automobile an found a spark plug with too small a gap. Tested a second Ford automobile with 4 cylinders COP (took about 30 seconds) and found all COP circuits to be working fine. In the automobile repair industry where time is money for a technician, this tool is a lifesaver! If you want to determine if you are getting a Crankshaft Position Sensor signal that is needed to produce spark, this tester is a good place to start; good spark, means the CKP is putting out a signal. I cannot say enough good things about this tool. Tells you that spark is good and combustion chamber is having a good burn time. If you do not want to take the time to break out an oscilloscope to analyze spark in a COP system, this is the tool to use. Can you tell I like this tool; you betcha!

I've been having problem with a Ford V10 in and Excursion and had so far been able to determine what the problem(s) were. This allowed me to test all the coil-on-plug units with out having to try and pull them all (which isn't easy for a couple of them). While I had previously had 2 of them go bad, this tool allowed me to see that this time they were all firing correctly so I knew the problem was fuel delivery at that point and was able to find one injector that had a bad connecter plug and another one that had just completely died. The truck now runs great again. I have several other cars with COP and I'm sure I'll use the tool many more times.

It definitely finds the bad coil. Saves me a lot of time from using the old school method of switching out the coils.

Bought to test 2007 volvo xc90. Works without removing the plastic cover on top of the engine. Valuable addition to my diagnostic tool collection.

My 2.8 V6 was missing but only at stop lights with AC running. So I purchased this probe. The probe arrived missing the "fly swatter" probe tip. So I returned it and reordered another. This time, I got a complete probe with sensor tip. The new probe read cylinders 1-5-6 but it would not read (at all) cylinders 2-3-4. I replaced all 6 spark plugs and cleaned up all 6 COPs with wire brush and dielectric compound. CAR RUNS GREAT NOW! However, probe still does not read cylinders 2, 3, and 4 at all no matter where I place it or set the dial. So... did I waste my time and money on this probe? You tell me!

Simple to determine, in a no start situation, if you have spark or not. Works on cop/dis or coil type systems.It's kinda strange you gotta smack it to turn on, then leave it sitting and wait for it to turn itself off.It would be nice if it came with a hard case to help protect it from damage. The body is plastic, antennae a metal rod covered with rubber, and the probe very thin plastic. Not something you want banging around with hammers and wrenches in a tool drawer.

the shop is getting lots of vehicles with coil pack / issues. I bought this from Amazon .we used it at the shop for about a week. The owner went out and bought two more from Amazon. This product is fantastic. Saves you time and money. You don't need to keep switching coil packs, to figure out which one is not firing.. You just bang it on something which activates it. You have a wheel to adjust the sensitivity. You put the tip on the coil packs and it will light up every time your coil pack fires. If its erratic ,then you know you have a bad coil pack. super simple. This thing is still working in the shop, and weve had it here for 7 months. It's so great that the other Mechanics bought their own, and they have an extra one at home. You can figure out what call packs have issues and change it out and be on your way. Haven't used mine yet but have borrowed another mechanics. This tool is amazing for telling when a coil is bad. Just place over each coil when the engine is running and back firing. This probe will tell you which coil is bad. easy to use and a great time saver. I had one truck that was back firing. I changed all the spark plugs and no difference. Borrowed this tool and it took me straight to two bad coils. Wish i'd used the tool earlier. Would have saved me money and time. Would highly recommend this tool.
