There are two factors you need to consider: (1) Screen resolution (2) Refresh rate The two above must be met by the switch box; mechanical switch box cannot cope with high resolution beyond 800x600. The distributive capacitance along all lines usually degrades the signals. Nick.

Your computer is recognizing the switch, not the monitor. If you switch supports the same resolution as you monitor you can go into Device Manager, Update Driver, and Browse your computer to locate and install the correct driver for your monitor. If there's a problem with the display afterwards you can roll the driver back. You might have to plug your monitor directly into your computer to do that.

It should work. One PC two monitors. this is a switch so only one will display at a time. Also depending on what the TV can handle resolution may not change automatically. Hope that helps.
