Hanging Damprid Prevents Mildew, Mold & Musty

This product is awesome. It doesn't take up much space and really works. You can see the water that it pulls out of the air. It is easy to write the date on the plastic hanger so that you know how long you have had the product hanging up.

I cannot recommend this product enough!Six years ago, I moved into a home in a moisture-pronearea. As an allergy sufferer, fighting the mustiness becamea frustrating battle.Fortunately, I happened upon these and found a great solution.No manuals or electronics, simply open the pouch and hang incloset. A dry calcium substance with air freshener pearls islocated on the top portion. It absorbs the moisture which is thendeposited into the lower bag. When calcium is depleted, follow thedirections for easy disposal and replace with another.My DampRid hangers last a variable amount of time, depending onthe moisture in my home. However, I know it's only working when itneeds to so there is no waste. If I have to replace it more often,that just means it's working more.I especially appreciate the fact that the air freshener does just that.Being sensitive to many fragrances, I found this to be non-irritating,pleasant, and not overwhelming as so many others are prone to being.I say, give this product a try. It is worth the price (can be purchased inpacks of three) and the effort is next to zero. I came here looking to see if this happened to anyone else and I found just one person. It is hard to blame it on damp rid because there is no direct link, however I have lived in a humid area of Fl for many years and never had mold or mildew problems until I used damprid. I am almost 100% sure it causes molds and mildew to grow, though i dont know how. The thing is people will be delighted that it works because you can actually see the water in the bag but when you remove the product from your home, you will actually notice an increase in the growth of mold or mildew. Just beware

Ive used the Damp Rid hanging pouches many times in smaller rooms and closets with good results. Please be aware though that this product can be dangerous to children and pets.My 1 yr old dog had managed to get into a bag that I had hanging and was at the time halfway filled with water. When I found him he had what looked to be water (with a strong odor) all over his legs, tummy and chest. So immediately I bathed him, which by this time his skin was turning very red. Within 36 hrs he could hardly walk and had formed spots on the affected areas that were black and felt rough to the touch. After taking him to the vet we were told that these were chemical burns and that his skin was dying off due to the contact with the Calcium Chloride crystals and residue in the water pouch. It is now 3 weeks later and he is healing, slowly. Its been a lot of antibiotics, pain meds, vet visits and doggy watching to keep him from making things worse. I didnt realize until days after he came into contact with the water that it was Calcium Chloride inside. I did some research and it turns out that calcium chloride is an irritant and burns when it comes into contact with moist skin. There have been cases of children and pets burning their mouths and asophagus.This is a great product and definitly does what it is supposed to do, I just thought I should share our experience. Please be careful with this product as you would with anything that has chemicals or may be harmful.

I use this in a small camper. I do not like the smell. I removed it and the smelled has lingered for a month. I have tried airing it out, febreze and other things. The odor seems to have set in and I can't get rid of it. Any suggestions to get rid of the smell?

My bedroom was feeling humid so I got these for the closets. Said to last up to six months, after a week most of the product had been converted into water. I removed them shortly thereafter, and realized that since I put the Damp-Rid in, mildew had started to grow all over things. Mildew wasn't there before the Damp-Rid.Yes, I live in a humid environment, but I didn't have actual mildew growing until I put Damp-Rid in my closets.

I agree with all the recommendations but DO NOT BUY IT ON AMAZON. I got it from Home Depot (same 3 bags, 60 days each, same weight/dimensions) but it is only $7.89 at Home Depot (plus no $14 for shipping) if you have a Home Depot give them a call before blowing an extra 36 bucks on this! but DO buy it. they really work!

Smells nice and worked well for a while but ended up leaking all over my closet after about 4-6 weeks. Would not recommend this product simply because there are comparable solutions available that won't end up messing up your shoes, clothing or anything else in your closet.
