There actually good for the body in small portions.
I think the other reviews covered every thing they liked or disliked about these licorice pastels. Some talked about a mixed bag and they have them, the bags looked the same so it might be confusing. I love these thicker pastels withe the softer licorice. I have them in a jar on the table and grab a few when I walk by.What I have discovered is not something most people want to talk about but I find these to be tasty “laxatives” and for Me that’s a good thing,I know the limit, eat 4-5 a day and constapation won’t be a problem. I looked up black licorice on Google and it definatly has a laxative affect, can be a burden if you eat to many so space them out.

GREAT N PLENTY
You people should be arrested for drug dealing! This stuff is shamelessly addictive!! I was never a big fan of Good N' Plenty as the licorice seemed to taste "different" and it was a little difficult to chew. These Jelly Belly candies have a perfect candy coating to licorice ratio. Just the right crunch and chew and they are literally mouthwateringly good. I ordered them yesterday, they came today and I'm pretty sure they'll gone before tomorrow. Unlike some reviewers, ours came in official Jelly Belly packaging. I have to keep pausing as I write because I can't keep my hand out of the bag. I also like the assortment of colors. There's the good ol' pink sand white as well as a vvariety of colors which make them more appealing rather than boring. This will not be my last bag! I would give them a 99.9 rating. Why not 100? On their own they are worth 100. However, what I thought was coming was a "bridge MIX" of the different candies shown on the bag and in the ad. I thought that would be awesome! So, I was a little bummed.A "mix" sounds like an assortment. Like a Brach's chocolate bridge mix isn't just bunch of raisins with chocolate on them, ya know? At first I was like, maaaaan, I should just send these back but then I tasted them. End of story, I have to close these up so there'll still be few when my son gets home. My wife and I have put a hurting on this bag. End note: if you don't already, you should do a real mix of the pictured candies!!

Solid outer coating
The best out there. Solid outer crust that is delicious and crusty.

Stale & old quality
Stale with coating crumbled off totally or partly off smaller licorice pieces. Whitish almost powdery coloring on pastel shelling of larger licorice pieces.

I got what I ordered, but . . .
First, I'm not unhappy! But I have to mention a couple of things: The item was delivered on time (yes!) but the item was packed in a paper mailer (usually a good thing) and the delivery person left it on my front steps (also usually good) in the rain (not so great). With a slight effort, they could have tossed it inside the (unlocked) porch door. Next, the candy seems not so fresh. The package was sealed, but it has clearly been through a lot. The candy inside was coated with a find white (sugar) powder as if it really got tossed around vigorously at some point. So, it tastes OK but it's not the nice shiny pretty candies I had hoped for. Maybe next time.

Temporarily unavailable…hopefully in stock soon
Not sure about the value for the money…it seems that jelly belly is the last remaining company to make good licorice pastels with the snap of the crisp coating. But, they are unavailable right now…so hopefully they’ll return to stock…otherwise that will be the end of buying pastels as all the other candy manufacturers make gummy feeling pastels

Great licorice pastels! Very fresh too
Update: I've probably purchased 20 (at least) of these and they are consistently good! I often buy allsorts and really just like the licorice pastels the best. Good and Plenty are too thick and chewy and it's hard to find good licorice pastels year round (you usually can at Christmas). I had purchased a no-name version for $2 more as the reviews on this one were not good. But the reviews are wrong. These came clearly in Jelly Belly bags, are fresh, and have just the right combination of sweet covering to licorice. Highly recommend!

Very disappointed.
Very disappointing. When I think of licorice pastels, I think of the little thin ones we used to get in bulk at grocery stores. Jelly Belly licorice pastels aren’t anything like that. They are actually fatter than Good and Plentys, also, the shell is harder and thicker to the point where I’m concerned about my teeth, and the licorice isn’t as soft. I like Good and Plentys but still prefer the “thinner” licorice pastels because they are easier on my teeth. Unfortunately, Jelly Belly licorice pastels weren’t what I expected. Very disappointed.
