Avantree Orbit Bluetooth 5.0 Audio Transmitter for TV with 5.1 Surround Sound Passthrough Support, Class 1 Long Range, LED Display, Dual Link, 100% TV Compatibility Delivers No Lip sync Delay

I bought Bluetooth headphones for my step-dad for Christmas so he could use with their new Visio TV but found out that the TV won't output sound from the TV speakers if connected to Bluetooth headphones. This defeats the purpose of the headphones as mom wants to hear through the TV and he needs the TV so loud everyone else is uncomfortable with the volume (yes, he needs and has hearing aids, just rarely wears them). So I ran to Walmart and picked up a Monster brand BT transmitter to plug into the Optical port on the TV. Got that hooked up only to get an earful of static sound through the headphones. Turns out the Monster brand transmitter could only use PCM output which of course, the TV will only output Dolby Digital. So jumped on Amazon and found this one which claimed to accept Dolby Digital signals. Crossed my fingers and waited for delivery day. It arrived promptly and well packaged with everything needed. Instructions were easy to follow and I had it hooked up in a flash. Had to do a bit of fumbling around to figure out how to get the BT headphones to pair (on the headphone side) but once paired, crystal clear audio streamed right through! I added a second set of headphones and was able to watch as well. I didn't notice much latency either. There were a couple points where I thought the audio was a bit off, but it really was barely noticeable. This little device allows the TV speakers to still output sound at a comfortable level (or can mute it as well if no one else wants to watch) and he can hear beautifully through his headphones. Our living room isn't huge so certainly stays connected whenever in the living room but when I tried it out, I walked into the kitchen (about 30 ft away with a couple of walls in between) and it still held connection so seems to have a really good range! Only suggestion is to have the buttons be backlit. It's really dark where I have this positioned and so when I need to access the buttons, I have to grab a flashlight to see. The display is lit and visible, but not the buttons. So - set it up where there's access to light and you'll be fine. There are a lot of options for using this that I've not tapped into - like using it as a Bluetooth receiver or a bypass - but we really haven't needed those other features. It does everything we need and so very easy for my non-techy parents! Now that everything is connected, he just has to power on his headphones and they connect right away! He's a happy camper and so is my mom!

I've been using this product for a few days and and I can state that it absolutely works well with both versions of Airpods Pro (1 and 2). The sound quality is excellent and if the Orbit B was the last device the Airpods connected to, then they automatically connect whenever I take the airpods out of the case. If the Orbit wasn't the last device connected to the airPods, then I need to press the Orbit's select button to connect (note that to achieve this behavior, I have my mac, iphone, and iPad configured to automatically connect to the airPods using the " if last connected to this device" setting) For those having problems pairing with airpods: - open the airpods case, and keep it open - press the search button on the Orbit, - press and HOLD the white, barely visible button on the back of airpods case - the airpods should appear in the orbit device list - on the orbit, using the up and down buttons, highlight the airPods, - press the orbit select button and you should be good - airPods Pro version 2 has volume control via swiping up and down repeatedly and quickly on the flat portion of the airpods stem. This works well with the orbit. Latency: The latency is low enough so that I rarely notice any lip sync problems relative to the TV screen. You can notice a slight audio delay when you see people clap their hands on TV, but it doesn't bother me. I bought the orbit so that I could use bluetooth earbuds simultaneously with my wired Sonos soundbar, giving me all the extra volume I need on my airpods and simultaneously keeping my family happy with their desired lower volume on the soundBar. It really accomplishes that goal. I can occasionally notice a little bit of speaker "echo", but when my airpod volume is high (which is the goal after all), the wired speakers are normal, and the airpods have noise cancellation on, it does not, in any way, limit my ability to fully understand speech. And speech btw is much clearer on the airpods for me than it ever was with the speaker system. The bit of echo is due to the fact that airpods don't support aptX, but its really not an issue for me. The airpods excellent noise cancelation helps to minimize the sound coming through from the wired speakers. You can turn that on by pressing and holding the stem control, until you here the doink sound. When I want to use the airpods with the TV when people are sleeping I can simply put the sonos on mute with the Sonos remote and the airpods continue loud and clear. The Orbit B is an excellent product.

For transmitting sound simultaneously to both the Polk Signa 2 sound bar and bluetooth headphones it works great!! No lip syncing issues on streaming devices or channels. Good sound so we are both satisfied. The downside is having lost the HDMI ARC feature available on both the TV and soundbar due to this device only supporting optical instead of HDMI ARC. Prior to adding this device, we could use our Roku remote to display and control the volume for Polk S2 soundbar utilizing the ARC feature. Now, we have to use the poor Polk Signa 2 remote and we still miss the volume display. If the manufacturer were to include HDMI ARC feature in this device it would be perfect but for now, it still solves the greater issue and reason for purchase... the enjoyment of the person with hearing issues being able to use headphones to hear clearly and sound being outputted through the soundbar for everyone else and for that very reason, we would buy it again. However, we do hope that the next version will support HDMI ARC.

I own a pair of Nuheara IQbuds2 MAX to help with mild hearing loss. I am quite happy with them, but not so much the IQstream TV bluetooth transmitter that I bought with them. The main issue with it is that the buds require a 2 channel PCM digital stream to function, which is not unusual for headphones, but the IQstream then requires that the entire home theater audio system be set to 2 channel PCM because it cannot generate a 2 channel PCM stream from dolby digital or dts multichannel sources. This really degrades the enjoyment by others if I need to listen in with the IQbuds. Not to mention the number of menus I have to go thru to change a source from surround to 2 channel PCM and back. Enter the Orbit. For me the greatest feature is the Orbits ability to translate dolby digital and dts to PCM for the headphones which permits the rest of the home theater to operate as intended. I am not sure if there are any other units that do this. Once I figured out how to make the IQbuds2 MAX go into pairing mode so the Orbit could detect it, everything went flawlessly and simply. The connection is solid with no dropouts, the sound is great as one should expect, and the Orbits volume control is an absolute necessity since the IQbuds2 MAX set volume control is a software feature within its Android/IOS app and that is only available when the buds are bluetoothed to the phone (and two BT connections to the IQbuds at the same time is not possible). I am not using the digital optical (TOSLINK) passthru feature of the Orbit as I take a digital output from my home theater sound processor to feed the orbit, that seems like a very useful feature if one's setup involves just a TV and soundbar. The Orbit supports the volume up/down functions I have programmed into my Nuhera IQbuds, which I did not expect. Nice touch. While the Orbit price is higher than most of the other BT generic transmitters on the market, it is cheaper than the one offered thru Nuheara and with the unique features such as surround sound compatibility it seems in line with other premium products in this space.

Ok, so this is my second attempt to have a piece of equipment that would pair two BT headphones to my TV. My first attempt with a similar device (different manufacturer) was a complete failure. There were great YouTube reviews for it but no trouble shooting videos. So I returned that one for a refund because it refused to pair two BT headphones and when it finally did there was no sound. And that brings us to the Avantree, it was $50.00 more than I wanted too pay. (Yes they make ones for less but I didn't want to deal with possible problems. ) The orbit was the only one in their line that had both voice and video display that made pairing stupid easy. The unboxing experience was a joy, it felt like opening that brand new smartphone you've been wanting for. Once you have everything out the box the orbit itself feels well made and not like some lump of plastic. The install was a breeze as well and if you don't like reading instructions there are some great YouTube videos that will help you out. All in all, this is way more than I needed. From the added microphone to the transceiver neither of these will ever be used. But the sound quality from both headphones (1-JBL everest too the Surface headset) are spot on. There is just the slightest bit of latency, but you really, really have to concentrate on it to know it's there. I've installed the orbit with optical cables and USB for power. I love watching it power on and off with the TV. Currently I have no complaints and I would happily recommend this to anyone. If I had a negative would only be in the price so far. But as they say at least in this case you get what you pay for.

PROS: Unit provides decent sound using the 3.5mm aux audio input. No issues with lag - perfect lip sync with TV. Reasonably intuitive setup. CONS: Provided documentation is scanty. Website isn't much better. Once a device is paired with the unit, there does not appear to be any way of forgetting/deleting it, short of a total factory reset. Worst of all, the optical input on my unit does not work at all. Tried with two different known good cables and TVs, so it's definitely a problem with this device. Since it works well enough with the audio cable, I'm not going to bother returning it, but I'll look elsewhere next time I need a Bluetooth transmitter.

Do you want to take your headphones out, and just have them instantly work? Are you sick of forgetting bluetooth headphones and re-pairing them, because Windows implements bluetooth with a potato? Well then this is what you need. You plug an analog or optical audio out from your PC into this device, and keep your headphones paired to this device, and it just works. I can take my pixel buds out of the case, put them in my ear, change my audio output device in windows to the analog out (analog in to the Transmitter), and the headphones instantly work. I no longer have to pair and repair my devices any time I want to change headsets or earbuds. You can just pair them all to this device, and it works. I needed this 10 years ago. $100 is expensive, but worth it to have the display so you can select which device you want to use. Another plus to this device is you can change the audio source to another PC by using an audio switch, or by just plugging it into a different device. You can just keep your headset paired to this thing, and you can use your bluetooth headset with anything you want just by changing the source. 10/10, highly recommend. As far as lag is concerned....yes, there is some. Get low latency headphones, and it'll be less of an issue. For music, it's a non-issue. For videos, I haven't noticed any issues with my Pixel Buds Pro, which don't even have aptx LL. But depending on how sensitive you are to the audio delay, you may find it more annoying than me. But for me personally, I don't have any issues with delay.

Okay folks... just a quick plug for something I found that is amazing. After a few decades of heavy metal concerts and cranking up the volume on the radio/tape deck/disc player my hearing has been severely affected. Last year I had my hearing checked and I have severe hearing loss in my left ear and moderate hearing loss in my right ear. I do have hearing aids now but the sound is a bit tinny for my taste and while working from home I don't really use them. When I watch TV I usually have the volume cranked up. Our bedroom and living room share the same wall so when Joan retires early she has to put up with my loud TV. I ordered a variety of BT TX/RX products from Amazon trying to use Bluetooth headphones at night. Some were just not compatible with the optical out on my Samsung TV so I finally found this thing. It has a true optical in and pass through (not SPDIF like a lot of the tech I tried) which allows both the soundbar and BT headphones to be used at the same time. It has an independent volume control so you can adjust your headset to suit your needs and not blow everyone else out of the room. I can actually hear dialog now! I also bought (as part of my previous attempts with a FiiO BTA30 TX/RX) the FiiO BTR5 Bluetooth reciever/DAC and I can use standard non-Bluetooth headphones. I tried it with my Sennhieser HD Jubilee 58X and it works great! So I have that option or I can use a few of my BT headphones (way too many, some purchased, some provided to me at no cost). Anyway... sorry for the long post but this was probably the best $100 I spent so far this year. If you have hearing issues too you might want to try this thing out. Love it!!!

Had my turntable hooked up to the 1 Bose Soundbar via Orbit's 1st BT connection and grouped all 4 BOSE speakers in BOSE app. The 2nd BT conection to a different brand non-smart BT speakers. Now I have 5 speakers playing in different rooms all at the same time, in sync! One short coming is that you cannot delete paired device individually so if you are anal about it, the only way is to reset the device entirely. Love it and now I just hope it will last.

After exploring all possible solutions, I finally found the product I wanted. The major advantage of transmitter only model is that it's free from battery. It's plug and play type of thing. Pairing except Sony headphones are bliss. You have to manually set into pairing mode while connecting with sony headphones. Great bluetooth range. Seller Bkcorp is reliable. They source the avantree products from official channels only. So not to worry about the warranty.

Da mein Fernseher zwar theoretisch Bluetooth beherrscht (aber "natürlich" nur SBC und das mit selbst für SBC ungewöhnlich hoher Audio-Latenz, die er auch nicht kompensiert), aber irgendwie meinen guten Noise-Cancelling-Kopfhörer nicht mag, war ich auf der Suche nach einer Lösung. Einen Kopfhörer-Ausgang hat der Fernseher natürlich auch nicht mehr, er hat ja Bluetooth! Seufz. Also brauchte ich ein einen BT-Sender, der sich in den TOSLink-Ausgang zwischen TV und Soundbar einklinken kann. Vorhang auf für das Avantree Orbit. Das Orbit ist dem Oasis Plus in den Fähigkeiten recht ähnlich, sieht aber ganz anders (ich finde: besser) aus und hat einen entscheidenen Vorteil: es versteht digitalen Bitstream-Ton. Avantree versucht dies zu bewerben, ohne die Worte "Dolby" und "DTS" in den Mund zu nehmen. Die Patente auf die Kern-Formate sind zwar meines Wissens soweit abgelaufen, d.h. einen 5.1-Decoder für AC-3 und DTS Core darf heutzutage wohl jeder programmieren. Aber mit den Marken zu werben, dürfte trotzdem nicht billig sein. Also wirbt Avantree damit, dass das Orbit Streaming-Dienste wie Netflix und Amazon Prime "plug&play" unterstütze, womit sie im Klartext meinen: das Gerät dekodiert auf Wunsch die optischen Surround-Daten an die Soundbar. Das klappt bei mir auch problemlos. Diskretes Surround per optischem Kabel ist zwar eigentlich veraltet, wer aber einmal sein Glück mit HDMI-ARC versucht hat, weiß vielleicht die relative Einfachheit zu schätzen. Außerdem finde ich echtes 5.1 allemal qualitativ besser als neuere Soundbars, die vielleicht dann sogar offiziell Atmos und DTS-X bieten, dafür sich aber auf virtuellen Surround-Sound von vorn beschränken. Wenn man nicht deutlich mehr Lautsprecher verbauen möchte, sind Atmos/DTS-X halt nicht viel besser als 5.1. TOSLink mag leider in der näheren Zeit aussterben, aber vielleicht kann dann mein nächster Fernseher ja selbst aptX-LL, also wer weiß, was die Zukunft bringt. Derzeit ist für mein Setup das Oasis jedenfalls perfekt. Die Einrichtung gestaltete sich einfach. USB-Stromversorgung anschließen, beide TOSLink-Verbindungen (ein zusätzliches Kabel liegt bei), fertig. Das Koppeln an meine Kopfhörer klappte auch problemlos, aber erst nachdem ich im daneben liegenden Smartphone kurzzeitig Bluetooth abgeschaltet hatte. Die Tonqualität ist gut. Das Oasis dekodiert den Bitstream und liefert saubere, räumlich gut auflösende Stereo-Daten an den Kopfhörer. Das Bitstream-Signal wird außerdem unverändert an die Soundbar weiter geleitet. Man hat also gleichzeitig die Möglichkeit für Surround im Heimkino und für Ton per Kopfhörer, ohne im Fernseher das Tonformat umschalten zu müssen. Die Latenz ist bereits bei normalem aptX mit 100-120ms ein gutes Stück besser als bei SBC, aber wird natürlich noch etwas besser bei aptX-LL (ca. 40ms). Wer hier empfindlich ist, muss also die passenden Kopfhörer anschaffen; zumindestens aptX sollte von diesen unterstützt werden, bei SBC wäre zumindest mir die Latenz generell zu hoch. Das liegt übrigens nicht am Format selbst: damit wären Latenzen von 50ms und weniger drin; aber die meisten Implementierungen bringen es auf mindestens 200ms, oft sogar 250-300. aptX hat hier den Vorteil, dass die Implementierung immer von Qualcomm kommt, also sich immer praktisch identisch verhält. Wer mit zwei Kopfhörern gleichzeitig arbeiten will, sollte außerdem beachten, dass hier immer nur der "kleinste gemeinsame Nenner" benutzt wird: kann ein Kopfhörer aptX und einer aptX-LL, wird für beide normales aptX benutzt. Kann einer nur SBC, wird für beide Kopfhörer SBC benutzt.
