The third ring offers a whimsical glimpse into the future -- or at least a future from the POV of the mid-20th century -- with a plethora of zany postwar inventions. While none of the cartoons "of tomorrow" foresaw smartphones or DVD players, these far-fetched contraptions, gadgets, houses and farms, televisions, and various modes of transportation could only come from the madcap mind of Avery and his M-G-M crew. Uncut, restored and remastered in High Definition for the first time, Tex Avery Screwball Classics Collection Volume 2 is another must-own collection from the master of hand-drawn mayhem. -- JERRY BECK, Animation Historian

Buy this now, you won't regret it.
This review is for the Tex Avery screwball classics blu ray volume 2 which was just released December 15th, 2020. As a child in the 70's,80's you probably watched these old rerun screwball cartoons during Tv cartoon time and did know, realize, or even care a storied animator named Tex Avery made these. When I got older, I finally researched and learned all that Tex Avery was responsible for and his contributions, which are too many to name here. I already bought volume one on blu ray last year. I just finished watching this volume 2 blu ray and let me tell you, I just relived my childhood in splendid, crisp technicolor like never seen on this blu ray on my 75" 4k Led tv. Sound was simply amazing. The cartoons on this volume 2 are all what I consider the "Biggies' of the Tex Avery world. Volume one had a few less and more obscure shorts compared to this volume 2. I have not seen these in decades. Just to name a few on here, "One cab's family, flea circus, little rural riding hood, all the house, car, TV, Farm of tomorrow's", droopy dog and more! and even my favorite "Magical Maestro' with Poochini. uncut And yes these are all uncut as they put a warning at the beginning of the blu ray. Apparently, some of these were still shown here and there in the 90's, but they had some some parts edited out of them when they were shown apparently for our delicate, every perceived thing is offensive/everyone is a victim generation. Baloney, Not here. These are the way I saw them as a kid. Do yourself a favor and add this to your collection. Tell a friend to buy one too. Warner will add a volume 3 at some point, which I will be buying every release.

If You Love Classic Cartoons Please Buy And Support
Just got my Tex Avery Screwball Classics Volume 2 yesterday. And loved it so much I've viewed it 4 times already. The picture, color, and sound are all beautiful and sharp. Just as with volume one, most of us have likely not ever seen these films in such clarity, as we all grew up watching often dirty or worn tv prints, possibly on old black and white television sets. I am disappointed at seeing negative reviews from people who are upset that there is a disclaimer regarding the not so politically correct nature of some of the films. This has no bearing on the ability to watch and enjoy the cartoons, and is seen only once before the cartoons begin. Just do as I do and go grab your snack or bowl of cereal during the disclaimer. Classic cartoon lovers and collectors need to buy these releases so that other as yet unreleased cartoons will be considered for remastering and be released. Negative reviews and refusal to buy makes the powers that be assume there is no interest in these films and they will stop remastering and releasing them, because they see no profits. Please support!Edit: I notice some reviewers are angry that though this title is supposedly uncut, there are a few edits for political correctness. It's been so long since we have seen these that the few cuts are hardly noticeable. It doesn't affect the enjoyment of the overall film.

Good release. Keep 'em coming!
Very happy that Volume 2 came out after I enjoyed Volume 1 so much. Not disappointed in this release at all. I've seen some reviews nitpicking on some technical aspects, but in the grander scheme of things, these issues can be overlooked. To be honest, it's been so long since I've seen some of these, that I lost my basis for comparison. Some of these cartoons do look a little darker than I remember, but can't say that any are "ruined' or unwatchable. In general, I found them all to be of fairly decent quality. There is one bogus review out there saying that Magical Maestro was edited and censored. Not true at all. All of the cartoons are uncut and unedited. There is still the "product of their time" disclaimer at the beginning, so it makes no sense for them to censor now.All of these cartoons are very enjoyable. I recommend getting this volume if you appreciate the cartoons of this era. Also, we should buy these volumes in order to prompt Warner to produce more. I figure there are enough Tex Avery cartoons to make at least one or maybe two more volumes, so let's send the message to Warner that we want more.

Second volume has some quality work needs such short falls.
Tex Avery was an essential part of the creation of the greatest cartoons of the 20th century. Heck, he helped turn it into an art form.Warner Archives did a great job with the first volume of Avery cartoons on Blu-Ray. The transfers looked great with just the right amo*n’t of restoration and clean up.Not so Volume 2.Some classic titles here and some that look terrific others look too digitally processed with derail removed by the over zealous use of Digital Noise Reduction. Managing grain with older films can be a tricky business—manage it too little it you can have grain the size of hams in the image; manage too much and detail is lost along with a plasticine look to the imagine. The audio is very good. There is a pretty good documentary on Tex included here as a nice special feature.
