Awesome sturdy attachment for your extension ladder. Makes cleaning the gutters eaisr and safe. Now I'm able to just reach down into the gutters. Before I would have to have the ladder against the house and then had to reach over the eves and into the gutters. This never felt very safe and I was always reaching into the gutters blindly. Also, this makes getting on to and off the roof a breeze and also provides a way to do so safely. Materials are good quality, easy to put together and it only takes a minute to take it off, put back on or use on another extension ladder you may have. I would definitely recommend this as a must have for anyone who wants or needs to work up high around the house. This has provided me with more sturdy ladder setting / footing and does't slip or move making use of my ladder more safe and confident. Take it from someone who blessed to be alive where last year I was planning on doing work on the roof, gutters and eves.. I was cheap and at the time didn't want to spend the money something like this and a saftey harness and ropes. Well, after years of going up and down ladders, climbing trees and cutting branches while working around the house I fell 30+ feet. Broke 7 ribs, punctured both lungs, broke my pelvis, lacerated my liver and kidney as well as a head injury. I was in ICU for 8 days etc etc... my wife found me unresponsive... again, I'm blessed that she called 911 and didnt just sneak away thinking... hmm, insurance money, bereavement cruise... lol... Anyway, I recommend this and have recently got the courage to get back up on the ladder after no of course with saftey equipment but still much to the disapproval of my wife... I just like doing things myself.

I'm a handy guy, and I found the instructions to be a bit overly difficult to understand, considering how few actual parts there are. No, the product don't come assembled, you have to do that. Although, I did get it correctly assembled after some close reading, and re-reading of instructions. I have a large 'painters' ladder I wanted to use this with, it reaches the roof of the second story of my house, so it's a pretty good size. When I'm up on the second story doing whatever it is (cleaning leaves, I recently added more soffit vents to beef up attic ventilation which was inadequate) having the stabilizer really makes me feel far safer doing my tasks at hand. I've used ladders of all kinds throughout my life, and I feel pretty comfortable. But, it's a long fall from second story, and I wanted the added stability. Safety is darn important. Although I may complain about the instructions, i do like that the product is manufactured in USA. I also appreciate that it seems quite solid. The pictures are kind of deceiving if you ask me, in real life, it's much beefier than it looks in the pictures. It is worth mentioning that there is NO adjustment for the standoff from the house (or whatever you lay our ladder against). Some may view this as a negative, but for me this is a positive. I don't trust adjustable mechanisms with my safety. This is just solid metal, less to fail. Other products with adjustable standoff sometimes cite weak mechanisms and such in some reviews, so I avoided those products. My ladder has round 'rungs' - if you have large flat steps, this product will probably not fit! Read the product specs for maximum size of the steps. Lastly, if you have a very large eave (roof overhang) this may not be a big enough of a standoff to clean gutters easily. In my case, I have to rest the legs on the roof shingles, as otherwise I'm reaching wayyy back to try and reach in my guttters (really unsafe). So, keep that in mind. But this is about as big as they get anyway in terms of standoff distance. Overall, I'd very much reccomend this product.

My Ladder-Max arrived quickly and was undamaged in shipping. Assembly was easy, except that one carriage bolt was missing. I substituted a similar bolt from my collection and all was well. The unit by itself is not particularly heavy and attached to my extension ladder with ease. Now it came time to use it! First real problem is that with the ladder extended slightly to expose the top three rungs as per directions and the Ladder-Max in place, a ladder that is normally not bad for one person to handle became a terrible pain to get in position. It makes the ladder very top heavy and hard to handle. Once in place, the stabilizer performed perfectly. There was simply no other way I could work on re-sloping my gutters on a roof section with an overhang. The ladder felt very solid and stable. The need to extend the ladder slightly to mount the Ladder-Max and position it so the ladder didn't touch the gutter put the ladder at more of an incline than I would like; it was like climbing a slope rather than the more straight up ladder. This was not a big deal - just felt a bit odd. Pros Does the job for roof overhangs Makes the ladder feel very stable Ladder does not touch the gutter Cons Missing bolt Makes the ladder top heavy and hard to handle Forced me to position the ladder at a strange slope (this depends upon your roof and ladder, of course) Overall, I could not have done the job without the Ladder-Max. I wish it were lighter so I could leave it on the ladder all the time. Unfortunately, for me, it's a special purpose tool that I now have to find space to store in the garage.
