Logitech K100 Classic Keyboard for USB/PS2

It's 2016, you say. And here you are, on Amazon, looking at keyboards. Why in the world would I buy a PS/2 keyboard? PS/2 was introduced nearly 30 years ago (1987!), and the currently reality is that not a single laptop in the market supports this input, and even desktops are starting to phase them out. Well, as sexy and shiny USB is, the geek in all of us seem to still prefer PS/2 when it comes to debugging system builds. Frantically hitting DEL, F8, F9, or whatever cryptic combination of keys to get into the BIOS is a well known thing. Turns out, when motherboards are on the fritz, the USB controllers sometimes stop responding, leaving PS/2 as the only way to get access to the BIOS. That alone makes this keyboard worth it's weight in gold, because as far as I can tell, it's the ONLY new PS/2 keyboard available on the market. I went to Fry's, and the kid working there replies, "wrong century dude." Thanks man, cause I didn't feel old enough already. The keyboard is light, but well built, and feels very solid. The key actuations are a bit mushy, and feel very 90's. Which is not surprising, since this keyboard feels like it rolled right off a 1990's assembly line - all it's missing is the beige plastics to give it that authentic feel. The NUM lock and SCROLL lock LEDs are nice and bright, which means you can't miss them. Most importantly, the DEL, ENTER, and arrow keys work great - a must have for mucking with the BIOS. TL;DR, a really great throwback keyboard for a ridiculously great price. More importantly, every system builder should have one of these in their closet, for the typical once a year usage. I'm sure if you trolled one of those surplus warehouses you could find a used PS/2 keyboards caked in who knows what, but why bother when you can get one brand new?

Glad these are still available with the PS/2 plug. We use these on several older pieces of manufacturing equipment at work that have still have PS/2 ports and they work great and last forever in a production environment. They work well so I decided to go old school and buy one for an Asus motherboard I just bought for a system upgrade at home that came with PS/2 ports. I bought an SBF-96 mouse and a K100 keyboard. We use a lot of wireless keyboards and mice at work with varying degrees of ease. Some work well while others have lag or eat batteries. Some have even sprouted legs and walked off. Oddly enough none of the wired mice or keyboards have those problems. I understand wireless on the laptops because we have to take those to meetings but all of the desktops at work still have PS/2 ports and plenty of open USB ports so I'm not sure why our IT people bother with wireless on the desktops.

Very inexpensive (read cheap) keyboard. I needed it when my Win 7 PC locked up after a power failure. It is a well known issue where USB keyboards aren't recognized at boot & there is no way to respond to on screen questions. I just plugged this in , booted & everything ran like a charm. I don't know how well it would stand up if used on a daily basis.

My old keyboard needed to be replaced. A few of the keys needed to be pressed down hard and what finally did it was the cord. Unfortunately, the way I have to use my keyboard, I need to pull it around and set it on top of my desk, directly in front of my monitor. This does a lot of bending on the connector cord. This keyboard has a MUCH heavier cord than the one I had which was really thin and flimsy - though it lasted me over 10 years as I take care of things like that. I think this new keyboard will last a lot longer given the stronger connector. The keys have a lot more ease to them than my previous keyboard. This is a great price for the quality of it.

I should begin by saying the keyboard works just fine. However, it is NOT a USB keyboard. It does however come with a USB adapter, but really, who sells a non-USB keyboard anymore????

Great keyboard for typing. PS/2, so it always works no matter what. Keys not loud, decent feedback for typing. Good size. No key is mangled or in wrong place. Technically, the old keyboards had a slightly longer backspace and backslash keys, so maybe this keyboard is a fraction smaller than standard. But after like 5 minutes of typing, fingers don't feel weird, miss type keys. So cant be that much smaller. If they offered this with Print Screen, Scroll Lock, Pause/Break keys over the Insert/Home/Page up keys and than just chopped off the Number pad keys (ten key less) that would be great. No other changes to shape, size or placement. Hope they offer this for sale for long time.

If you're just using it for typing, this keyboard will work perfect. If however you are gaming this keyboard will NOT work. As other reviewers have stated the response time is awful and it doesn't seem to allow multiple keys to be used at the same time. Example. If W moves a character forward and E strafes to the right, naturally if you press them both you should strafe forward and to the right - diagonally. Nope, character either stops moving or does one of the 2.

This is a nice keyboard. It seems to be well-made - no parts to rattle if you move it around - and it has a pleasant tactile feedback. I can type quite fast on this puppy. Perhaps best of all, it has a USB connector! I avoid USB connectors for keyboards after being caught so many times in a situation that I need to type input but the computer hasn’t gotten far enough in its boot process to recognize a USB keyboard. This does not happen with keyboards using PS/2 connectors.
