I absolutely loved the continuation from I Know Why Caged Birds Sing. Maya is a remarkable individual. I’m moving right into Singin & Swingin.

Maya Angelou's six-volume autobiography series - book 2
My wife is a big fan of Maya Angelou so I got the series for her. She told that me just as with the first in the series, "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings," she found Maya's life story fascinating, thoroughly enjoyed this book, and could barely put it down.

Beautifully written
This is a beautifully written memoir by Dr. Maya Angelou. It is both inspirational and a cautionary tale. I'd recommend to any young women coming of age and going through life transitions.

Maya Angelou is a Master
The riveting sequel to "I know why the caged bird sings".A Deeply moving and at times shocking chapter in her life . Essential reading.

The next step in Angelou’s Life
“Gather Together in My Name” is a good book, altho’ not “Caged Bird.” For those who have read “Caged Bird” - and I would strongly recommend reading it before “Gather...” - it is interesting to see how the next part of Maya Angelou’s life plays out.

Wow
I've wanted to read this since finishing her first one ('I know Why the Caged Bird Sings'). Exquisitely told, raw and honest but with strands of insight and humour. An incredible book. As with the first, I am left marvelling at how one with such an unpromising beginning finished so well.

Hidden Gem
I always knew Maya Angelou in relation to "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings", and latterly to her appearance on the track "Flawless" by Beyonce. I was intrigued to learn more about her life after hearing her on Desert Island Discs. As it turns out, "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" is part of a 7 book autobiographical series - "Gather Together In My Name" being one of them - and it rocks! Gave it to my Dad to enjoy once I'd finished. Rave reviews from him too.

if you loved the first one
if you loved the first one, you'll love this skilfully told, beautifully described short story of the author's life from sixteen to twenty. The story is a precious one which reminds women in particular that multiple failures, bad decisions and questionable behaviours have been among the frequent choices of even the smartest, most courageous and most successful role models, reminding all of us to get up and get going. In writing about her life, she instructs the reader in the difficult art of taking full responsibility for our actions but retaining enough kindness in the understanding of ourselves to move on without wallowing. If the story doesn't grab you, her exquisite ability with words will. Safe to say, I liked it!

I AM A FAN
I was not disappointed once again, Taking this journey with Maya was inspiring as with all her writings I have read so far, I have wanted to buy something of hers for many years, I am not disappointed to have waited until this time, I have a maturer view on life and feel my appreciation for her writings come with greater passion. I have read several just this year and have loved everyone so far. I am a fan.

Hard to put down
My friend recommended Maya`s books and I'm glad she did, I've been hooked since reading I know why the caged bird sings. Being on lockdown has its upside, I get to read more of Maya`s books. She really makes you understand the south and how it was living as a young woman.
