Q: Cant seem to get this working smoothly

You have to be very gentle with the gas flow. I slowly turn it until I hear the gas entering the keg, then it's just a case of very carefully adjusting it to the correct flow. It takes practice. Top tip, when the keg is empty, you can refill it using a funnel and what ever beer you want. Cheaper than buying new kegs.

No, It’s a different keg on the PD

Q: How often you need to change the gas?

More often than not, a gas cylinder will last the timescale of a 5litre canister.
