Definitely the best debute prog album of 2013
I'm very surprised there is no reviews so far on this disk!In my humble opinion, this work is at least as good as hyped 2013 releases from The Flower Kings, Sound of Contact or Haken, and IMHO more interesting than The Tangent, Leprous or Tesseract.Their style is a mix of prog metal, contemporary jazz, classic rock and classic prog in roughly equal proportions. Add to this mix female background vocal that sometimes sound like ... Sade! Oh, I hope I didn't miss anything...I have to admit that the music a bit angular and require more attention than most modern neo-prog releases, but you will be rewarded! I didn't like it too much after the first two attempts. But this album is a real grower, and the more I listen to it the more I like it.The first two tracks start with sounds similar to Pain of Salvation, but then morph into something more calmer.Starting from 3rd track the music flows into mostly fusion/prog territory, including 2 parts mini-epic Eyes, but not without occasion metal teeth. All band members, especially Luke and bass guitarist, are excellent musicians and not shy to demonstrate it.What I also like very much about this release is the production and sound quality are top notch! The sound is NOT compressed, it is clear and crisp! You can hear all details and nuances (and there are a lot of them). You will have hard time to find better sounding 2013 release! To sum it up, I strongly recommend it for all prog fans. You will not be disappointed!

Never Too Late To The Scene!
This is a fantastic debut album from Maschine. A new comer to the prog scene. Very melodic, catchy, progressive, dynamic feel, hard when its call for. Full of musical passages from the opener to the closer. The songs are very memorable. Once you start listening to the songs you cannot stop listening to it.The musicianship of its five members are commendable. Vocalist has a great voice that fits the band and their songs. Im loving it!

Great prog album
A great surprise album. I stumbled across this on Spotify and love it. This other reviewer nailed it. The vocals are sometimes lacking, but the instrumental sections are stellar. For fans of Haken. There are even traces of Gildenlow vocals in here. Recommended

Fulfilling and satisfying!
This Cd is a great listen-it's edgy, raw, powerful and yet beautiful. The female background vocalsadds another dimension-enhancing the overall effect by adding a softer, sassy touch but without detracting from the intensity. I've played this CD several times now and never tire of the music. All the songs are strong; I get to hear some Santana, some Prefab Sprout and maybe some Haken. But I've got to say that this band are very much their own. I love the whole Cd but track 3 Cubixstro is my absolute favourite. It starts off at a breakneck speed and then morphs to a slower, groovy beat- my feet are tapping, my head bopping-wonderful! Overall hugely fulfilling and satisfying listen. Well worth the 5 stars.

Get a singer
Luke Machin is one of the best guitarists in the UK, his compositions are intricate, intelligent, expertly crafted and played and album is well produced. But his singing is very weak - with poor tone, no expression and no power. Maschine could be so much better if they had someone like Ashe O'Hara handling the vocals.

Progrock
Disco molto bello in cui oltre al progressive metal è presente una componente jazz. Completa il disco una piacevole voce della cantante.
