The Cambridge Checkpoint English suite provides a comprehensive, structured resource which covers the Secondary 1 framework for English and seamlessly progresses into the next key stage (covered by our Cambridge IGCSE® First Language English series). This lively, colourful coursebook for Stage 7 includes activities to develop Reading and Writing skills, with integrated Speaking and Listening tasks. It contains 12 themed units with a full range of stimulus materials, including a balance of fiction and non-fiction texts from around the world. Before this, I used the Cambridge Primary English series of workbooks and textbooks with the teacher resource. I would say, having the teacher's resource for this is quite helpful sometimes, though it isn't strictly necessary. My kids like this curriculum (including the primary one they used). Interesting themes in the curriculum, as well as a selection of reading passages to stretch the average child, and provides plenty of practice and gradual development of reading and writing skills. This particular curriculum is good preparation for the English IGCSE.
