Yes it has a scent similar to soap and it is thick in texture...but the scent does not remain in your hair once rinsed out. I would still recommend using the product...

Can I also use styling cream with this proudct. which do I use first?

Yes, you can use this with styling cream. Use this product first. Be sure to comb through your hair thoroughly or it will be crunchy in the places you didn't comb through enough.
