This is a great remote start system
I stand by the compustar products. This model in particular works flawlessly in my International Durastar. It connects well with the drone, and any other compustar/idatalink system you want to throw in there. As a bonus, these units are compatible with all the IDataLink T-harnesses. So connecting to your vehicle can be an absolute breeze with the appropriate parts. ****BEFOR YOU BUY THIS**** Make sure you do some digging, check, double check, and triple check that it will work for your make and model. They have ALOT of different versions, and some are not compatible. The Compustar website will help you find a system formyour vehicle. The instructions however can be VEEEEERRRRRYYYYY confusing to folks. I'm an experienced HD field mechanic in Canada, and it was a pain to try and figure out how to rig this up with my unit. But once I got past that hurdle everything went smoothly. The recieved cable is perfectly long enough, the wires were too long for my application, but they may work perfectly for yours. I don't think you can go wrong with compustar.

Reliable remote start system with long range
This remote start system is a solid option if you’re looking to add remote start and keyless entry to your vehicle. The 2-way remote is a nice feature because it confirms when the vehicle has successfully started. The range is impressive and works well from a good distance, which is especially useful during colder or hotter weather when you want the car ready before getting inside. The remotes feel durable and the controls are straightforward to use. Once installed and programmed correctly, the system works reliably and responds quickly when starting the vehicle. Overall, this is a dependable remote start system with good range and useful features for everyday convenience.

Locks may require relays.
Used to replace a burned out bull dog system, motherboard. Installing this system was simple until the door locks portion. Prior system controlled the door locks without relays, this one not so. Vehicle installed in; 1995 dodge ram automatic 5.9 liter. Had electric door locks built in and triggered with negative current which with this unit requires two 5 pin relays. You'll be wiring two posts each to hot, one on each to vehicel existing lock and unlock wires, and to same coming from remote box. No posts go to ground. You have to test which end of the vehicles lock and unlock wire is going to the motor or coming from the switch after you cut the vehicle wires one being lock and the other unlock - you have 4 wire ends you tie into using the relay posts producing 4 wires and they need to connect to right existing lock and unlock ends and you determine the ends by using your vehicle lock switch to identify; hot = switch side, other by default is the actuator side. Then you can finish the wire connections. I went to manufacturer’s web site, training for installers and found a specific video instruction re: locks and relays-the instructor speaks the wiring pin to relay numbers arrangement. Takes notes and apply. Manufacturer sells a dual relay wiring harness or just buy two 5 pin. 4 pin won't work - 87a post is needed and 4 post doesn't provide. The rpm sensor i left in the default mode which is alternator or voltage sense instead of rpm coil sensor. Just wire sensor wire to relay hot wire source as it’s direct to battery and fused of course. As soon as it starts the rpm sensor which is intended to issue a signal back to the brains that the engine started is instead using the alternator sensor for volt signal increase. The remote will issue a confirmation tone that your vehicle didn't start so it kept the starter turning til it toasted out, caught fire and burned your vehicle to the ground....kidding of course but that could happen if there’s no signal to identify engines running, so wire that sensor, use the power relay source and fuse protect it. The burn to the ground wouldn’t happen, there’s a time out starter engagement limit so relax ladies and why are you reading this install review, he’s installing it. Lots of mod options to change attributes that you can program via remote key pad. Remote start is great, antenna pick up is great; hit the button, listen for confirmation, go back to bed for 15 or longer (programmable). If keyless is backwards as mine was it was caused by the motor wiring on one actuator is backwards. Good value, small unit, light weight, plenty of wire length, need two 5 pin relays on certain lock trigger type vehicles. Happy camper.
