That's what we did. The eyes come separately and attach with clips and screws, the mouth is a sticker/decal that also requires assembly. Leaving these two items off does not make it look goofy at all.

This little car is very easy to push - my 4-year-old granddaughter has no trouble pushing her 2-year-old sister down the street in it.

My daughter is 42 pounds and 42 inches...will she fit in this?

If she does, it won't be for long... my niece who just turned 6 is 45 pounds can barely fit for a few minutes comfortably. When my daughter who is probably about 34 inches sits in it, she probably only has a foot of space above her head (and less space for getting in and out as the roof arches up for more headspace once inside). You might want to look for another toy, or you can get this and enjoy it for a little while. I'm sure you could sell it easily when you're done with it (or save it for another kiddo).

what is the age appropriate for this toy?

9 month to 6 years. My daughter is now 4.5. Steven her friend 5.5. And still have a blast. Then 1.5 years old Stella still love it. This is the best toy ever for the money
