Could this be used to find splinters?

Yes. If a typical hand-held magnifier does not work, the MicroMini can be used to find splinters.

That Im not sure about. Mine has gotten wet several times but I havent dropped it in water yet. Im fairly sure if you did drop it in water, you could retrieve it, dry it off & out, removing the battery, & all would be well. Id give it time to throughly dry tho, probably 24 hours, then test it. These are made to take some abuse so I think it would survive.
