Outstanding holster...must have!
Note: the pics are of the same model DeSantis ankle holster I bought in 2008 2009 and now retiring. It needs to rest after wearing everyday since being strapped on 2 to 4 times a day minimum with showering changing clothes whatever. I'll admit I've even worn it to bed too it's so comfortable. That's a minimum of 10,000 on and off's. I prefer leather holsters over the inadequate nylons with velcro closers but this puppy is outstanding quality and they hold fast and snug under a pant leg against the skin a sock or even over my linemen boots. On occasion I've worn on the left or right hand wrist with a big sloppy sweatshirt hoodie. I carry a SW bodyguard M49-2 circa 1982 and Ruger SP 101-2 most recently both steel frames and both heavy and I can run at full speed without anything coming loose...fact or feeling sloppy...feelings are now important. Lol And I do this without a calf sling...its not necessay...one suggestion if you do purchase this ankle holster remove the calf sling square metal ring near the top opening of the holster with a pair of wire snips and discard...allow no metal to scratch your babies! I bought a left and right hand this time to double up for those special occasions...heck if I could learn to shoot with my feet I'd need four of these holsters!

Fits well, great price and comfortable to wear!
I love Desantis products because they're made well. I wear this one in particular on my ankle when running at the track late at night. It holds the firearm very securely with an S&W Airweight .38 in it, it's very lightweight, comfortable and doesn't bounce around at all while jogging.

Decent Quality but Awkward Holster
This review is for DeSantis Small Frame Revolver Apache Ankle Holster. This holster was awkward to fit a J-Frame into. You have to jimmy the revolver around the little leather piece as it is not just a fully opening to slide the revolver into. This also is something you have to contend with with unholstering your revolver too. Also, the Velcro strap is not very convenient. It's cumbersome to remove it one handed and then keep it from closing while changing grip to withdraw the revolver, this assumes one hand is holding up your pant leg. Also, this is Velcro, so it is going to make a lot of noise when you go to unholster it. Depending on the situation you are in, this could be a very serious problem. Also, this is not a one size fits all either. This is for smaller ankles. If you have above average or athletic ankles, this will not fit. The Velcro is sharp. So, if any of it is exposed and touching your ankle it will be very uncomfortable. I also did not like the loop that is for an optional calf support strap. It would have been fine if I was using it, but I found it to be a bit an annoyance when holstering. The overall quality of material was good, but I did not like the design. I wouldn't recommend this particular one.

could be in the way if you needed your weapon and the sheepskin lining is comfortable, but a little hot in the summer
didn't think my small 38" would fit, but it does. the strap that goes over the handle of the gun, could be in the way if you needed your weapon and the sheepskin lining is comfortable, but a little hot in the summer. would definitely recommend.

Pad Not Long Enough
Decent quality but it is described as being able to carry an SP101 4.25". I bought it for a 3" and the barrel protrudes past the padding on the interior so that the muzzle pokes me in the ankle bone. Ok for a short time but definitely not for regular carry.

J-frame Revolver
I have worn this all day every day for two weeks and have not had any discomfort. The holster is secure enough that the strap isn't need so I cut it off. Using the safety strap slows the draw too much and makes a lot of noise. Overall this is a great holster for a J-frame revolver.

My go to holster
This is my go to holster for my Smith and Wesson 442. Once you get used to the feeling of having something wrapped around your ankle this makes for a comfortable and convenient concealed carry holster. This holster pairs well with my boot cut jeans and does it's job just perfectly.
