Fantastic Case-by-Case ECG Book
As a Student Paramedic, I took an instant fascinating and liking to the ECG, when first introduced. I started out with the basics to build a nice foundation, and studied a couple of books to gain a good grasping of interpretation in the first couple of months. I then came across a couple of websites to aid in ECG interpretation; one of which, being Amal Mattu's 'ECG Weekly'. This website has been fantastic and completely indicative to my learning, where Dr. Mattu has addressed a huge variety of cases such as BBB's, Hypertrophy, Atrial Enlargement to the more complicated cases of aberrancy, tachyarrhythmias, channelopathy & cardiomyopathy - all for the 'cost of a coffee'! I then came across this book. Wow. Brilliant. A huge selection of cases from Dr. Mattu's personal experience. Each ECG is separate to any interpretation discussion - giving the reader the chance to have their say for each case, before matching an expert opinion. The discussions are digestible, understandable & written in a way that the audience can easily understand and learn from. This book is a great book for ECG development, and great to open a random page and to give a go at your own interpretation! Books like these make you understand that it is not always STEMI to be instantly looking for in an ECG in the prehospital environment, there are a variety of presentations that could be indicative of an acute coronary occlusion. Even to the keen eye, some of these cases are tricky and can throw you! BUT - this is the time to be making mistakes and to learn from them, away from the real-life environment and in the comfort of your own home. If you're interested in ECG and interested in developing your knowledge, this is a great book to both test & develop your ECG interpretation skills. Thanks for such a great book. Looking forward to completing it and obtaining the second!

Excellent advanced EKG book for EPs. Not for beginners.
Excellent review of real EKGs with short one-liner histories, just like when you're working in a busy ED and constantly have the EKG techs asking you to sign EKGs. This book is for people who need to read real EKGs of real patients, and it is definitely not for beginners. You need to know the basics of how to read an EKG first, and this book will help you pick up on abnormalities which are necessary for emergency medicine. It does not talk at all about the basics of the EKG tracing or give an overview of EKG at all, it is cover-to-cover real EKGs with explanations, no wasted space. It does have an index in the back, which is nice because you can go back and find cases of particular abnormalities easily.

Mattu and Brady will take your ECG interpreation to the next level
This is an excellent teacher to take your interpretation skills to the next level. As an emergency resident, I've always been a bit dissstisfied with my ECG reading skills and that I've never been really making full use of the all the information on ECGs to benefit my understanding of the patient and their pathology. Mattu is a world-famous name in the ECG world and I've watched some of his ecg tutorials and found his teaching style to be excellent. Similarly this book takes you case-by-case, incrementally teaching you various tips and tricks on ECG interpretation. You're only ever taught 2-3 points per case. But you will be applying your learning from previous cases to the following problems to consolidate your learning. This is not by accident but by intelligent craft and design - its an example of masterful teaching. Like a reader above, I like to read about 2 or 3 cases a day and its an absolute joy. I now get a lot more value from the ECG than I did before. Probably one of the best medical books I've ever purchased on Amazon.
