Just got this modem to replace our Comcast rental modem and eliminate the rental fees. Got it connected and up and running without problems. I got the refurbished model, and so far, so good. Modems are very reliable hardware, so chances are if the refurbished one works out of the box, it will keep working for a long time. I am getting my advertised speeds of 30 Mbps without any problems or hickups. PRO's: - Easy to set up and activate (just plug it in and activate via Comcast activation website or phone) - Getting advertised speeds of 30Mbps on my line, solid connection - Small form factor, can stow it away behind a book shelf easily. - Works with most cable ISP's - Good price if you get it refurbished. CON's: - Really none so far, solid modem.

So far so good. Plugged it in on a new Lightspeed.ca 75MB service in Victoria BC and works flawlessly. Tests at over 80MB/s. Gives me the joyful opportunity to give the overpriced Shaw service the heave ho.

Works great, no problems. Easy setup. Just plug it in and call comcast with the id numbers on the label, but the numbers are in really SMALL print. It was setup within an hour. HOWEVER, speed did not increase over by Docsis 2.0 modem, using COMCAST. They had been pestering me for months about how much better a docsis 3.0 modem is, it wasn;t I was currently getting 30 mbps with an old docsis 2.0, but the performance package from Comcast had been upgraded to 50 mbps. The local representative said that the speed was guaranteed UP to 50, not that I would get 50!! So I upgraded to blast for free for 30 days, up to 150 mbps, instead I got 95 mbps consistently, with this SAME modem. So my modem is obviously not a problem, it is just that Comcast throttles down the speed to 30 no matter if you have docsis 3.0 or not. Solution is to go to your store and ask "What are your customers getting?" or rent their modem for a month. If the speed doesnt increase, then demand a refund and refund their modem. If it does increase, then buy this modem to replace the rented modem. PS Even my router a Linksys EAA6200 is performing better, less drops.
