Great
When we remember to use these they significantly reduce the misquito population.

NEED TO KNOW FOR PLANT USE... Good Product
NOTE: if using for pest control on plants this seens to slightly increase the PH to the base side (.5 or less PER gallon) to the base side. It was 6.5-7, after it was 7-7.3)They're bigger than expected. They look like lifesavers in the picture, but easy to use BUT LET IT SIT OVER NIGHT BEFORE ADDING TO PLANTS, it's not a powder it's more like pressed cardboard and plywood mixed together so it needs to resolve whatever is in it.It's kind of hard to collect out of a gallon milk jug. Had to attach a screen to filter out the little pieces (after I broke it up because they're too big to fit into a gallon jug for juice etc). The big chunks were easy to remove because it all floats

Seemed to do the trick - used in my rain barrels for community garden
I oversee the Taylor Court Community Garden in Willimantic, CT (which we built in 2008) and collect water in large barrels from my house to water the veggies. In the past, I've noticed mosquito larvae in the water and with mosquito borne viruses in the news, didn't want to put me or the others at risk. I used maybe 6 dunks over the course of three months and didn't see any creatures in the water, and it didn't seem to have any ill effect on my plants. And it's my understanding the substances in the dunk aren't toxic to people, which is important if you're watering food plants with the treated rainwater. So, these seem to work well for my purposes.

Reducing the mozzie 'surplus population'
This is the second year we will be using these in the pond across the road. During the spring we have clouds of mosquitos due to the standing water from the snow melt and low-laying pond area. Last year we noticed that the mozzie population seemed to be significantly reduced after using these. We just reordered and hoping to have the same results this time.

No Mosquitos!
I use these regularly in my bird bath, and my two fish ponds. I have not seen or been bitten by mosquitos in my backyard since I started using these three or four years ago.

Killed the fungus gnats, YEAH!
I recently bought a lime and a lemon tree. The soil that they were in apparently had fungus gnats, and before I knew it, those pests were everywhere and had infested all my other houseplants too. I tried several home remedies to no avail. The population was just too high. The Bactimos dunks were mentioned on a gardening forum and so I decided to try them. One briquet was all I needed to water the 2 trees, and 7 other house plants including 3 orchids. Flies/gnats GONE. Within 24 hours I did not see any flying around and none of the little white larval ones in the soil. That was 1 1/2 weeks ago. I have since seen 2 or 3 stray ones flying around, most likely due to some eggs hatching since the treatment or breeding in the sink drains which they can do. I plan on treating my plants again and pouring some down the sinks. Honestly the best part is how far just one briquet will go!

They're doing the job!
Easy to use! Just throw them into areas where water collects or in the bird baths, pools/ponds, etc. & no mosquitos! It's safe for animals, fish, etc., to drink the water from, too. Used to use them in the horse troughs. They do work for a long time, but towards the end of it's time, they might break up &, if in a bath, pool/pond or drinking container where you don't want to see, you may need to use a skimmer to pick up the bits. Nontoxic, so if eaten, no real problem and no mosquitos!I recommend!

Good for now.
The first time I used these, they worked great. When the originals dissipated and I replaced them with new ones, there was NO effect, and the mosquito larvae flourished again. I didn’t give up... added an extra (to make 3 for a shallow 10’ diameter pond, and it seemed to work... or else all the larvae hatched! Anyway, I am not seeing larvae now, and the pond is almost dried up now, so I guess we’re good until the next big rain.
