Shimano Shift Lever SL-TX30

I was very surprised that this came with a front derailleur shifter as well, although my ride does not need it it was a nice surprise. Really great quality shifter, in the shimano box. Great purchase.

Fit well, function is great. Solid.

Easy enough to use for a 12 year old. The rear trigger shifter works better than the front. The front shifter is a friction shifter, not an index shifter and a little trickier to use. But if your child does not shift the front crank often, this is a great solution.

I replaced the grip shifter on my daughter's 20" 7 speed trek bicycle with this shift lever. It makes it easier for her to learn how to shift gears. The lever is easy to install with the cable already attached. All I had to do was secure the lever and attach the cable to the rear derailleur.

I recently bought my 9yo son his first mountain “style” bike. It happens to also be his first experience with a bike with gears. I was very excited for him to step up from the “kiddie” bikes and be able to ride farther, up bigger hills since he could now shift gears, and so forth. He and I were both very disappointed on the first ride because he isn’t strong enough to shift the twist style. I adjusted several times, watched videos on tips thinking maybe I was missing something but nothing helped. I ordered this just to try, assuming the lever action would be easier for him than the twist shift. I installed it 30 minutes ago and he is absolutely ecstatic now about his new bike and being able to shift gears himself! It shifts SO easily! Very smooth. Granted his bike has Shimano 7-speed setup. It may work with other brands, I don’t know. I can say with confidence that it works wonderfully for a happy 9y0!

For the price point this is a good shifter. I fell on my bike and damaged the original Shimano shifter. This was a direct replacement.

This is exactly what I was looking for. The shift lever is above the bar and doesn't conflict with the ebike conversion control unit I bought. The old shifter is below the bar and can not be used.

These worked perfectly to swap my son's 7 speed twist shifters to paddles. The twist shifters were very hard to get into 1st gear where as these allow enough leverage for him (7 years old on a 24" inch wheel bike) to get into 1st gear without trouble. I like the fact that he is getting used to shifting with paddles so there won't be a learning curve when he moves up to my bike when he's older. These come with the cables and some cable sleeves although for your application you might want/need to buy longer sleeves.
