I love it. So beautiful characters and inspiring story.

My daughter asked me to buy her this book because she had read it at school and this was her favorite. So how could I say no to that! My daughter likes me to read to her so when I read this to her, I loved it too. Actually really loved it. As an aside and speaking as someone who recognized more than a little Chester in me, I also recognized that Lilly is the child I wanted to be all those many years ago. I think this story celebrates the greatness of childhood but is also a lesson for adults. What fun stepping out of our comfort zones can be.

Chester's Way is a sweet little story that makes being friends with more than one person relatable to little kids. My daughter was going through a phase where she thought she could only be best friends with one little girl. They are always together but when that little girl went on vacation for a week, my daughter came home crying from preschool saying she had no friends. She did, it was just that she was so close to her little BFF. We read this book and it really helped her see that it was okay to branch off and have other friends. I also love that Henkes stories are the perfect length to read before bed. Not too long that you almost fall asleep reading or too short that your kids need another. ;)

It was one of my favorite stories as a child so I decided to buy one for my 3 year old son as well. He loves the repetition and the storyline and always requests for me to read it. Sweet and cute story that is enjoyable for the both of us.
