I own a hohner alto melodica. how does the note range for this one compare to an alto?

Range is F below middle C (F3) to F three octaves above middle C (F6) for a range of three octaves.

What is the length of the plastic tube that comes with it? I notice that folks frequently buy a 20.9 inch tube from the Pianica to go with this.

20 inches. I measured from the tip of the mouthpiece to the end of the connector. The end pieces are black, the tube is white. The 20.9 inch Pianica tube doesn't seem like much difference.

Has anyone checked the tuning with a tuner? Mine is mostly 5-15 points sharp and I'm considering returning and trying again. Multiple responses please
