Deficient
Looks "complete" but far from it.Tried looking up some no-brainer words that should have been in the index, but weren't. Very little info on file steucture, cataloges, and vackups. Look to other authors and sources, like web searches for info.

Beginner with Photoshop Elements 9
I have just started using Photoshop Elements 9 needed some excellent information on 'how to' use the different functiions. I bought this book and it is full of information and lots of pictures. Very pleased with this purchase. Easy to understand.I also bought Photoshop Elements 9 All-In-One for Dummies. There is also a Photoshop Elements 9 For Dummies. I recommend the Photoshop Elements 9 All-In-One for Dummies instead of Photoshop Elements 9 For Dummies. The All-In-One has twice the information and a lot more pictures to help with the 'how to'.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 for Photographers
This "how to" book is very easy to read because of its logical organization and clear instructions. After first reading it to get an overall understanding of Elements 9, I keep it next to my computer to use as a reference book when I am processing some pictures. Since I am an amateur photographer, I do not use this software full time, and need to frequently refresh my memory when some less often used features are needed. This book serves as my private tutor.

A Good Book
I've barely cracked this book, but everything I've looked up was helpful...............But I'm used to & like Scott Kelby's approach, I think, a little better. I'll be buying the Kelby Elements 9 book to supplement this one.

Great Book
Of all the Photoshop Elements software instructional books I find this the best. Writing is clear and easy to understand. Illustrations are appropriate, and the whole package is nicely put together making it a pleasure to read or browse. I had the previous version (for PSE-8) and have just bought this for PSE-9 to replace it.

I am not impressed
I found the book to be difficult to follow or understand and I was generally disappointed. While I am not a first time user of Adobe Elements I still consider my self to be a novice. For a novice the book was not especially usefull.

Not Enough Instruction
This manual is great at telling what Elements 9 has to offer but short on explaining how to use the tools.

Beautiful to look at, comprehensive and clearly written !
I finally got around to reading this, having been trolling through the Adobe help file which I have downloaded as a PDF.This book does cover things very well and has lovely full colour screen grabs and clear step by step instructions. In fact it's a shame to say that it's a little too well made.. very heavy quality and glossy pages make it awkward to physically read. Maybe I have just gotten used to reading on my iPad these days. The highly visual layout is a tad confusing too since it's not always immediately obvious to which section a screen shot is relevant. Some of the sections seem to be written as if they were separate entities which impacts the flow of the book some what.I have come across numerous typographical errors, notably most of the chapter introduction pages have typing or grammatical errors. There is also an element of repetition, we are reminded that Elements for Mac now has the Organise feature about a dozen times for some reason. The errors extend to the point that one of the chapters mentions the Bridge feature which was removed in V9 ( since as we are reminded a dozen times we now have organiser !) The writing style is a little overly simplistic, but you get used to it.Anyway these are really rather minor gripes since the coverage is really top notch. I have had many 'a-ha' moments. There is also interesting information on when features were added and how they relate to the features in the Pro Photoshop. Even having read the Adobe help several times it can often leave you scratching your head. I think Adobe seem to enjoy writing confusing help files. This is a great book, don't be intimidated by the sheer amount of detail thrown at you, it's worth the effort !There is an accompanying web page where you can pay for full access to tips and tutorials.

Elements Explained
I have used Elements for a couple of years and know my way around quite a bit of it. However, this book has given me several good tips for the bits I know well and a much better understanding of the areas that I dont use so often. It is very clearly written and presented and the pictures (colour) are very helpful. This book could be recommended not only for Elements beginners but also those who are more experienced.
