Amazing album

This is a wonderful (if incoherently compiled) collection of Chet's work. Total playing time is a little over 500 minutes. If you are like me you have three key questions:(1) How is the sound quality? It is certainly not up to audiophile standards, but is adequate for what you get. What I mean by that is the tracks are not needle drop transfers from flawed LPs, nor are they meticulously remasters. If you listen to MP3 files, which lose some fidelity, then you will probably not have cause for complaint.(2) How does this compare to the newer box set titled  Kind Of Baker ? Both share tracks, but each has a large number of tracks that the other does not. The Kind of Baker set is more coherently sequenced with respect to chronology.(3) What does this collection contain? Below is a brief description of what each disc contains. I have not dug too deeply into the discographies, but the information should give you a general idea. I am also placing a complete track list of each disc in a comment to this review so you can see exactly what you will be getting.Discs 1 and 2 were recorded in in various sessions and performances between 1952 and 1953. There are various configurations of the quartet, featuring Chet and Gerry backed by bassists Carson Smith and Bob Witlock, and drummers Chico Hamilton and Larry Bunker.Disc 3 contains 1953 sessions with Chet backed by Russ Freeman on piano, Carson Smith, Bob Whitlock or Red Mitchell on bass and Lar (depending on the date) and Larry Bunker or Bobby White on drums (depending on date).Disc 4 appears to have been recorded in Los Angeles in sessions during 1954 and 1956. It may also contain parts of the 1953 sessions that are on Disc 3.Disc 5 is the live album titled  Out Of Nowhere: Chet Baker Quartet Live, Vol. 2 ; Disc 6 is the album titled  Young Chet  minus one track.Discs 7 and 9 appear to be derived from an album titled  Chet Baker And Crew Discs 8 and 10 contain tracks from these two albums:  Songs For Lovers  and  Chet Baker Big Band .If you love early Chet then you will probably want this set (as long as you are not a stickler for sound quality). I Never knew anything about this artist but the songs and the music on this compilation and very good indeed, If you like a nice bit of soft cool jazz then this is the compilation for you

I'm not sure if this is an official release, if not, a pity. This album is at masterpiece standard, not only the artist, irresistable CHET BAKER himself, but also the music and the sound quality of this vinyl. BE READY TO GET LOST WITH CHET, this album is worth it.

Te gastas un dinero notable en lo que crees que es una compilación decente de Chet baker y cuando te llega te encuentras esta autentica basura de calidades, caja de cartón cuyas esquinas se desgastaran en 2 dias y 10 cd's guardados en "sobrecitos" de cartón barato malo el cual rezas por que te deje sacar el cd sin tocarlo por la parte que no se debe tocar.Muy mal si así es como pretenden luchar contra la piratería, ofreciendo precios altos por calidades pésimas. Le tendré muy en cuenta a la hora de hacer mi próxima compra, no me habría importado llegar a pagar hasta 20 euros mas si con ello me hubiesen ofertado un material decente del que estar orgulloso y no esta porquería.

Sarà una svista ma tutte le recensioni che ho letto su questo articolo, anche se dello stesso artista,corrispondono certamente ad altri prodotti.Quando si compra on line le recensioni sono un importante ed il solo strumento di valutazione.In questo a caso a cosa servono?
