How do they recharge?

You need a suitable battery charger which should be available from Amazon.

Can the charger be wall mounted?

You can always use double sided mounting tape to attach it to the wall

How long will these last in a smoke alarm before needing to be recharged?

I purchased this for a remote control for a motor mover on our caravan. the battery got a good charge if I'm honest.. As for a smoke detection unit unsure. But for the money good product

I can see there's an indicator to state the battery is fully charged. Can you confirm if it works as expected? Many thanks.

It has for me, 1 bar when starting 2 at 2 3rds strength and full appears when fully charged, also they seem to last forever
