Dogs on the Trail: A Year in the Life Hardcover – November 16, 2021

I read this at the library and instantly ordered it for my son who is graduating from college. One, he loves dogs. Two, I wanted him to read about someone who picked the less traveled path. The book arrived promptly and in good shape.

I heard about this book on NPR and not only purchased it for myself but also for several dog friends who vacation up in the north. Honestly, I'd only heard bad things about people who mush dogs, never good. For this reason, I've always been skeptical about the care that the dogs received. It is nice to know that some mushers really do care for their dogs and see their different personalities. This is a lovely book, the photos are just wonderful, and the information very interesting. I will continue to worry but am a bit more open-minded now, after reading the book.

A glimpse into life on the trail w/ the dogs & the couple who understand, love, care for & respect them. The book is well written and the many photos paint a picture of a race in a grueling environment that most of us would never be able to endure let alone thrive in. Mostly taken with how positive and caring this couple are with their dogs, always looking out for whatever is in their best interests.

This is a perfect way to share what sled dogging is all about. Beautiful writing and imagery, and stocked with fascinating information. This led me down the rabbit hole of all of Blair and Quince's adventure writing- a truly lovely journey.

What at first glance seems like a coffee table book is so, so much more. Its a highly visual story telling and informational book. Highlighting the basics and intricacies of sled dogs, teams, and the culture- with incredible photos, and wonderful writing.Love the profile pages for the dogs- especially Grinch <3

Bought this after hearing the author interviewed on Fresh Air. What I received was a charming picture book (fantastic photography), with a text as warm and matter-of-fact as the interview had lead me to expect.

Really enjoyed it
