Living on a small farm, mice are simply a fact of life and as long as they stay out of the house, garage, and shop I'm fine. It is only when they come inside that they become pests. Over the years I've tried about every mouse trap on the market from the trusty old snap trap to modern live traps, sticky boards, and even a few professional electronic devices, and all with about the same lack of success. Several months ago I came across the rolling mouse trap and thought, "Oh, what the heck, give one a try." Best move I've made in quite a while! The roller assembly comes pre assembled and ready to mount in your bucket of choice. It fits perfectly in the buckets I bought from the local hardware store by drilling two 1/4" holes in the rim and the threaded rod used for the axle also acts as a landing for the ramps I made from some old 1 x 2 boards. Baited with some peanut butter smeared on the roller it is 100% effective. Mice smell the bait, run up the inclined boards (I use about a 30 degree angle), walk out onto the roller , and fall into the bucket. In a tall bucket (5 or 6 gallon) they can't jump back out and it works as a live trap, add about 2" of water with a 1/2 teaspoon of dish washing soap and they quickly drown. These traps average 3-4 mice a night and are the best value I have ever found. Since I started using them the mouse population around the house, garage, and shop has dropped to almost zero! Another plus is that I don't have to worry about kids or pets getting hurt by spring loaded traps or poisons! Great trap, great value, I highly recommend!

The most effective solutions are most often the simplest. This is genius. Super simple rolling log mousetrap made of metal that doesn’t require reloading, cleaning, adding bait every time, etc. I have caught up to 5 mice in one night. It beats the spring loaded ones, and the cages by a wide margin. I saved so much on the pest control guys already with this device. And it’s safe for the pets, and God forbid children. I move the bucket to different places. This worked in my basement, attic, garage and chicken coop so far. Peanut butter done a good job for me. I got a chipmunk once, so it should work for other rodents as well. The instructions are very clear – it’s super easy to put together. You can drill the bucket or cut grooves in it and place the rolling log on top. Filling the bucket with water is options – you can catch and release. Note – bucket and planks are not included. 5 gal bucket from any hardware store should do. And you can improvise for the planks, or get something from the hardware store. I like that the company offers a money-back guarantee. And it’s made in the Europe, not in China.

The trap doesn't work. It was set up according to the instructions with peanut butter bait. The mouse have incredibly good balance & acrobatics to simply walk on the roller, eat the peanut butter & leap off the roller with ease. Left the trap out for 1 week. Each day the peanut butter bait would be completely eaten away and has to be re-baited on the center rubber bait ring. Same thing everyday. By the end of 1 week, I have the same empty bucket of water and a big fat nothingberger.

This is a good idea but rats learn from experience.. It killed one rat.. And his buddies learned.. Don't go there.. No luck sense... rod seems short.. Rats were licking peanut butter off of it without falling in.. I modified with a longer rod and a bigger bucket and I was able to catch one... They ate the rubber bait ring so I cannot use that part no more... Do they sell replacement rubber rings.. This might work really well for small mice.. Really hungry ones

This was easy to set up and seems to function well and as it should. Unfortunately we have not had any luck with it. I imagine it's user error and we just have not found the best place for it. It spins really well and it is sturdy in design. The peanut butter we used hasn't been eaten. It was also the perfectly sized for a 5 gallon bucket. I really just think we would have better luck in our garage since it has way less traffic. This being a 5 gallon bucket makes it tricky to try and conceal. And the ramps coming off of both sides add to that. Keep in mind for placement.
