An Actual Lifesaver
My parents have a 2003/2004 Mitsubishi plasma monitor that they've used as a TV screen for the last 15 years. The problem with this old set up is that, unlike new TV's, the monitor does not put out its own sound and requires an AV receiver, a cable box, and needs a cable from the cable box to the monitor itself. Because of the thousands of cables involved, my parents utilized about three power strips (the normal strips) when setting up, then left them there to gather dust and age. It makes doing any kind of adjustments to the tv, including diagnostic work, an absolute nightmare. The final straw was the other day when I was trying to clean up and one of the older strips tripped the circuit breaker and cut off power to my living AND blew out my cable box. After that, I ordered this mangnum power strip and I AM IN LOVE. If you're reading this, you need to know that I am a professional reviewer for consumer electronics, and power/power cables are something I really love. I also happen to be something of a snob about them. Among other things, my personal checklist includes: - Number of outlets and layout - Material construction - Length of the power cable - Surge Protector - Reputable company? - Additional features 1: Number of Outlets/Layout This strip kicks serious behind with the 12 outlets. It's been able to absorb the needs of the three other strips we had before, in addition to also allowing me to keep my Google Home Mini by the door. Now, a lot of power strips have 12, but my favorite thing about this is that the layout shows incredible consideration for design. A lot of strips feature a stacked vertical design, which makes things like AC power bricks and three-prong plugs bend or keeps oddly designed plugs from not fitting. This strip is less of a strip and more of a rectangle that features three outlets on each side and six down the middle which helps significantly to mix and match depending on size and location. I appreciate a company that considers design this way. Note: the side outlets are called Blockspace Outlets, which I think is what differentiates the allotment for space, and sliding covers, which I like as they probably protect the outlets better. 2. Construction: I will be the first to admit that most electrical items nowadays may (at first glance) appear cheap compared to early designs. This (in my experience) is mostly because of the use of plastic vs metals and because we can't see the insides. In my experience, the industry standard is much higher than in earlier years, and in this case, the construction is fantastic. Nothing (on my unit) rattles or seems flimsy or likely to break, and it's fairly heavy, which I personally like since it keeps the strip from lifting. Good quality and seem durable so far. 3. Length of Power Cable: This seems 10 ft, which is convenient since I need it for my tv. I feel like this is a good length for this type of strip, since this is more of a hub strip than a strip you would drag out to the garage to power tools. Set it up in a central location and use that as your power point. 4/5. Surge Protector/Reputable Company: Having had issues with non- surge protected strips, this was very important. I like that the indicator lights to show if the strip is protector are bright and visible, and having been a Belkin customer for years, I trust their power and surge protection. 6. Additional Features Some people may want USB ports, but in the case of a media center, I found it unnecessary. I have outlets throughout my house with them and strips by my bed for that. That being said, this strip has 1-in 2-out phone/fax jacks, 2 coaxial connections, and 3 Ethernet jacks. It sounds silly since so many of us are totally wireless, but my wireless drops constantly and having a grounded connection is really great! There's also a cord management clip at the bottom to organize all of your cords, which I don't use BUT is an excellent idea. TL;DR This power strip may be excessive for someone who can manage with a traditional power strip, or may not be sufficient for someone who is looking for USB ports. However, if you're looking for reliable power, HIGH QUALITY surge protection, media management/an organized layout for outlets, and could benefit from the coax/internet connections, I would highly recommend!

Where have you been all my life?
As many of you already know, it is difficult to find a surge protector with more than 8 outlets that doesn't cost $80+. Being in the IT industry for over 15 years I know quality when I see it, and this is it. Why would I need 12 outlets? Well I'm sure everyone would agree that utilizing 12 outlets in a technology driven world is not a difficult task to complete. I have the following hooked up to it. 1. 40" Sony 1080p KDL 40-V2500 LCD HDTV 2. Sony (not sure model#) 600 watt surround sound system 3. Sony Playstation 3 4. Sony Playstation 2 5. Alarm clock 6. AT&T Uverse DVR 7. Plantronics 220 Bluetooth headset charger (power brick) 8. Motorola 700 Bluetooth headset charger. (power brick) 9. 8 port 10/100 network switch (power brick) 10. Powered Amplifier type Antenna (power brick) ... and still have 2 outlets to spare, FANTASTIC!! This right here is as some would call Da Shizzle (AKA really cool). Anyways, to a more serious point lets review the Pros shall we? 1. 12 outlets!! 2. Affordable 3. Great quality (Belkin is known for high quality at affordable prices) 4. Wire management clips (I didn't find any use for them but it's a great feature to have.) 5. FLAT solid wall connector (not the swivel connector) 6. Generous length on power cord 7. Space Saving (1" tall) 8. The power ON/OFF switch is on the SIDE of the unit, not the top This is great since it avoids accidental kicking/etc. 9. Lifetime warranty and $300,000 equipment protection 10. If someone says that they only got use out of 8 outlets, well.. they have some serious issues, there is PLENTY of wiggle room on this surge protector. Cons: 1. Didn't come out sooner. 2. I couldn't get it fast enough, yes Amazon just doesn't ship as fast as they used to, oh well. 3. I didn't order 2, now I have to include something else in an additional order to qualify for free shipping :) darn the luck!! Now here is something that has always fascinated me. When you take it out of the box, you will notice 3 different kinds of plugs that are not electrical plugs. 1. RJ-11 (Phone) 2. RJ-45 (Ethernet) 3. Coax (regular cable fitting) It seems that people just CAN'T help themselves to hook their phone/ethernet and cable/antennea into units such as this. But here is the thing.. for the most part THEY ARE COMPELETEY USELESS!! By now you are undoubtably confused. But why would they include these on it if they are worthless you may ask yourself? That my friend is a great question. Allow me to explain. First off let me explain the physics of electricity. Electricity always looks for the shortest route to ground. So keeping that in mind, we move forward. The cable/phone company is REQUIRED BY LAW to ground their signal BEFORE entering a residence or commercial structure. So grounding your signal again using this surge protector is a waste of your time. Now as for the ethernet connection. Ethernet or Cat5/Cat5e/etc are LOW voltage by design. Now the voltage that a cat5 or ethernet cable is carring is VERY small. It gets this voltage from a router or network switch/hub. Now as long as the router/switch/hub is hooked to a surge protector, hooking your ethernet cables through this surge protector is again a waste of time. Also keep in mind that if your external antenna is not grounded BEFORE entering the house you have a lightning rod and NOT an antenna. Therefore hooking your antenna wire to this will undoubtably cause interference, since it is grounding the connection to the electrical circuit that is providing power to it. Make sense? Good I knew you were smart!! People see these "extras" and think wow, thats great, and are more likely to justify their purchase decision on these "extra" features. So it is more of a marketing scam than anything else. Now you are an educated consumer and know that these extra connectors are only intended for protection for KNOWN faulty installs, to sell product, or people that just don't know any better, and are basically just pretty to look at. I hope this review was helpful, and I wish you luck on your future endeavors.

Great price, plug layout and Joule rating
I have replaced most of my surge protectors with this model. It seems that it offers the best bang for the buck. Several years ago, I lost most of my surge protectors in a major PG&E power outage/surge in my neighborhood. I had a variety of different brands at the time and almost all of them burned out protection components inside and never worked again. I was thankful because it saved all my electronics except for my Playstation 3 and a premium Pioneer receiver. I was also lucky because PG&E reimbursed me for all the damage except for the receiver. Somehow the damage to the receiver went unnoticed until it was too late to file a claim. What you have to go through to get warranty equipment protection coverage from all the surge protection companies is a joke so it's best not to factor that in your decision of which model to purchase. If you have a lot of time, patience and tenacity you might be able to get them to fulfill their promises to cover damages. I like this model because it has a 8ft power cord, a low profile plug and 6 large block outlets with efficient placement. The Joule rate should protect against most surges and this model has been around awhile so most problems are known about it. In most cases it's recommended that you replace a surge protector if it has encountered a major surge even if it's still working so in my opinion it doesn't make sense to spend too much money. If you live in environments when surges are frequent or more severe you might want to get a more efficient solution so do proper research and spend the required money to keep your equipment safe. For my needs, this model is working out great. It's a lot of premium features for a low price.

Nicely done Belkin...
I purchased this product for a few main reasons. The first being because of the outlet layout on the surge protector itself, very smart idea to arrange the plugs in this manner. Having all the wider spaced plugs along the outside to make room for transformer type plugs, while all the plugs/outlets requiring much less space are in a row down the middle. VERY nice and convenient. The second reason I purchased this item was because of the high protection of just over 4000 joules. In the state of Florida, where lightning strikes just about as much as it rains, this is a very important feature. Finally the last piece of the puzzle that influenced my decision was obviously the price. About $20 here on Amazon and free two-day shipping (as I am an Amazon Prime member) for something that costs over $60 on the manufacturer's website, not bad at all... If you are looking for a very nicely priced surge protector with very good protection and excellent features, you really can't beat this one here. It all just makes sense if you ask me. From the way the outlets are arranged to the protection it provides. ALSO, I WAS going to remove a star, and drop the rating down to 4-stars from 5-stars because of this reason, but I changed my mind as it really did not effect me at all, but I still would like to inform other buyers of the matter. A couple values that either Amazon or Belkin's website displays for this exact model surge protector differ slightly from what's stated on the actual box. First off there is the "UL Clamping Voltage", it WAS stated in the description on Amazon as 300V or 330V, I can't remember which figure it was, but on the box itself the description/features state that the UL Clamping Voltage is 500V. Secondly is the actual protection rating. Amazon doesn't list the protection, or "joules" rating in their description, forcing the buyer to look up the specs elsewhere. Once I did this I found the specs to state that the "joules" rating was stated to be 3996 joules. Yet the description on the box itself states that the protection rating is 4156 joules. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about that in any means I'm just stating the possible issues. THOUGH, it needs to be noted that Amazon has since corrected the problem with the UL Clamping Voltage by removing that specific specification. Though the actual protection rating hasn't been added to Amazon's description. That doesn't effect me much as I am not lazy, and if I see that a product is possibly going to be a really good deal, I will put the effort into getting the specifications, whether it be the manufacturer or wherever. The discount you get on this item, versus purchasing it in stores on from the manufacturer's website is well worth the extra work.

Feature-rich for the price. Belkin is a trusted brand. No cables included.
This surge protector is a great value and a very feature laden product for it's type. The cord organizer is a very welcome addition. Once routed through to thier respective outlets the mass of attached AC cords no longer looks like an 'electrical porcupine' but instead as a very well designed and neat feature with very visible and immediate benefits. I've had many power strips in the past but this one extra feature has been long overdue. Remember ...."neatness counts" As you may know it has surge protection as well for RJ-11 (telephone) RJ-45 (Ethernet) and coaxial (75 ohm multimedia cable) I am currently only using the Ethernet jacks..BUT as one other reviewer mentioned, I had to hunt and search as the Ethernet jacks 'were nowhere to be found'. I nearly called Amazon for an RMA. Well after sitting on the floor pondering this and cussing a little too I somewhat reluctantly tried peeling away a 'warning label' of some sort and 'Lo and Behold" were the 2 Ethernet jacks. I saw the warning label earlier and did not attempt to remove it. After all it was there as a 'warning' so I may benefit from seeing it another time. How silly to hide the Ethernet jacks beneath a warnming label that, like me, many folks would not ever consider removing. Belkin should have had the warning label ALSO declare that the Ethernet jacks were hiding beneath. How proposterously silly and ridiculous to obfuscate them beneath a very valid warning label without declaring thier whereabouts beneath. Frankly ladies and gentelmen, it pissed me off. Not the searching as I did find them, but the use of a warning label to hide them. The label could have easily been edited to say "The Ethernet jacks are underneath". Anyway my other complaint is that this add-on surge protector advertises Ethernet / Telephone / Coaxial surge protection and rightly so..BUT it fails to include an input jumper cable of each type so one can actually use it right out of the box. I realize the product literature does not say one way or the other if input cables are included. Many other devices that are an ADD-ON to existing systems DO INCLUDE the required cables so one can actually ADD-ON the accessory. I had to go to the store and purchase an Ethernet cable....this is MY FAULT for not investigating more thoroughly pre-sale but live and learn. I agree with all the other reviews about number of outlets provided and spacing for wall warts etc..so no further remarks on that needed. I would still recommend this unit 100% with the foreknowledge one will need to beg borrow or buy input cables beforehand in order to actually use this product right out of the box for RJ-11, RJ-45, and Coaxial protection. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED...

Spoiler to my review- This surge protector performed like a champ in my time of extreme crisis!
Had a plumbing leak in my house on the second floor. Water gushed from the upstairs floor, flooded my home office and poured directly in mass onto this surge protector which was protecting my computer (with all my personal and business info). Of course I start freaking out, frantically unplugging everything and moving them from the room, but I can only go so fast ya know. This surge protector is evidently fried, actively HOT, (to be fair it was also hot water) and is showing both lights on which is not a good sign. So the nervous question is now... Did it do its job? I fix the plumbing, dried out the office etc, and now the moment of truth... I plug everything in into another outlet, and EVERYTHING that was plugged into this surge protector was just fine! Phew! So take it from me, this protector in my time of emergency did EXACTLY what it was supposed to do, sacrifice itself in order to protect what was plugged into it. Bravo! I swiftly ordered another one as a replacement and sleep just a little bit more soundly knowing that if another crisis arises, this surge protector will not fail to do it's job
