Nice Simple Lamp
I enjoy this product. Provided good glow, minor flickering (explained later), glass feels thick, burns a long time. Some helpful advice.: - Get a funnel, yes, it comes with a applicator tip, but it’ll just frustrate you when you spill fuel oil all over. - When refilling or changing the color, take out the globe, flip the cylinder over, place the globe back in. The height of the holder will give you easy access and you don’t have to figure out how to set the globe down w/o it tipping. - Use a bbq or fireplace lighter. If you get the longer models you’ll need something long to light them. - Start with the wick short. If you’re new to oil lamps and candles the shorter the wick, the smaller the flame. I tried the wick at the height they showed in the picture and my flame was about 4” high and shot about 1” above the rim. Start with a nub, just enough to spread out the strings. Light it, watch in burn for 30 sec. To small: blow it out, wait a min for it to cool, pull the wick up a tiny bit. On mine, 1/8” height wick gave me 1” flame while 3/16” game me 2-3” flame and more flickering. - Use the right oil. I’m not an oil snob, but the fuel that came with it is clean burning, no odor, and very long lasting. - Real burn times. The instructions said, this may oz, burns this long. Here’s the simple math. 1/4 globe for 5-6 hours burn. The height of your wick will change this. Longer wick, bigger flame, burning more oil. - Cleaning is easy. Even clean burning oil laps can form a film on the glass. Simply wipe the glass inside and put with a damp paper towel or cloth. I do the same thing in my gas fireplace to reduce the need for professional cleaning. - Adding some color. I’ll review the oil dye set you can buy for this too. Teaser - worked well and a great way to add color and your own personal touch

Enchanting
I love this little lamp! It is charming and old-fashioned. The light from the wick projects a little dancing halo on the table directly underneath it. It's easy to fill and burns a long time. It comes packed in a form fitting styrofoam mold in the box, so it won't break if you want to mail it as a gift. Well done all around.

Creates ALOT of smoke
Looks beautiful, but gives off ALOT of black smoke. Was hoping to replace candles i use without the air filter going off, but I guess anything with a flame creates smoke indoors regardless.Want to decrease the air quality of your home? Have flames indoors, especially during wintertime.

Great candle, needs slightly longer wick.
UPDATE TO THIS REVIEW- I wad contacted by the company and was told that rarely the machine cuts the wick short. They stated they are sending a new wick right away. I am a person that really appreciates that kind of good customer service. I am revising my review to 5 stars and recommending that if you get a short wick, just call the company.OK, I really like this oil lamp. It looks great, attracts attention, nice glow when it is burning, comes with a nice supply of oil. So why only 4 stars? Mine came with a wick that is shorter than the one in the picture. It does not go to the bottom of the oil supply - so when the oil supply gets a bit under half, the flame dies out. If you get a longer wick, it is perfect. I will probably end up just buying a new wick at some point, but have not gotten around to it. I did not see any other reviews with this problem, so maybe I just happened to get a short wick. But even with the short wick, if you like candles, get this - it is very neat looking...

Beautifully functional
If you search for hurricane lamps, you'll find they all look like old fashioned oil lamps you'd see in the 18th century. Something you'd find in your grandmother's attic. This is beautiful and contemporary. You can keep it on display as art. And then when you need it, it works wonderfully. I only wish they made a version a little bigger.
