depends on one's needs. read detailed review below
As w/anything it really depends on what someone is looking for. For me, this gets the job done for my purpose but overall i would rate the product as just "ok" in general. details:1. as many have already said including YouTube video that simply advertises the product vs giving an installation demo, the instructions it comes with are pretty poor. it shows the diagram but the written words would be similar to receiving something to assemble that simply states "put it together". not really helpful. that would be like receiving a piece of furniture to assemble that simply said "attach pieces and put it together". That is not really telling anyone the technique or giving any helpful info.**how to actually do it**: this is like a tension shower curtain rod except its meant to fit inside the window frame. the picture does show how the brackets should sit and that part is correct. one side: the right side comes OFF and allows you to put on the curtains on the rod. so first twist the rod itself back and forth to loosen it up so that is it able to be adjusted. you can get a basic idea by holding up to the frame as to how long it needs to be. once it can easily be adjusted (mine really stuck and it was not easy getting it to adjust), then go ahead and put the curtains on the rod and put the end back on. put the rod/curtains all the way up to the highest point inside the frame. this way it is level automatically. then twist (each hand in opposite direction) to get the tension correct so that is is positioned on each end and stays put. again think of a tension shower curtain that adjusts and goes between two walls but does not need drilling. this is the same concept. not sure what the picture is showing w/the holding it at angle but you just put the curtains on and then hang it up, adjust. it took a bit to get it adjusted where the tension was holding but it DID work.2. the idea of it being able to be used w/the light blocking curtains to wrap around the ends is helpful and does work and does not leave any gaps. the curtains are able to easily wrap around and stay against the wall.3. we already have horizontal blinds on the window and this actually was able to still be used in the frame. again, i positioned as high as possible in the frame. the very top blind bends slightly but this still is functional and not damaging from what i can tell. if so it would be just one top blind which would always be covered w/ curtains anyway4. was looking for a quick, simple solution for blocking light b/c as said we already have blinds for privacy, etc. did not wish to drill and wished to have a temporary solution that could be changed out if need be. not sure what we are doing as far as decoration to that window yet so did not want anything major or fancy. wanted something simple w/the intention of upgrading later but in the mean time needed the light blocked. for that this DOES the job. it is pretty flimsy, though and very thin so am glad it held the curtains. we leave curtains closed most of the time which is good b/c i would not want to keep opening or closing them. It does not seem to be made for a lot of action but more of a stay put "fix" for an easy curtain solution.5. i see this being a solution for someone looking for something exactly as i was. super simple, no frills functional purpose of hanging curtains. it says you can add double rod but i would NOT use this for any type of nice decoration or a more complex design. i would only use for this quick fix as mentioned. anything else needed, i would go w/a standard hardware, nice substantial rod that is more durable and also looks nice.for the price and use of not needing hardware, this was good for me. as long as someone is not expecting it to be anywhere near like the other traditional types of rods, knows its is the same concept as a tension shower curtain rod except even flimsier and is just looking for the function of hanging very simple curtains, this will in fact work. the max is 48 and that is for a smaller type bedroom window so this would prob not even be an option for someone's living room or larger windows.

Rental save!
The media could not be loaded. Currently renting and we aren't allowed to drill holes in the wall. We needed to hang blackout curtains for our baby's room sooooo glad we found this rod!! We use an additional curtain to put over the blackouts. We have two curtains hanging and they have held on since installation. Definitely recommend this product.Update: I bought two others so a total of three for other bedrooms, but those didn't hold up as well. One has fallen on my head multiple times when closing the curtains. Ouch. Not sure if the tightening mechanism is loose on this specific rod or what but yes. Still a good buy just not 100% of the time.

Awkward device
They aren't horrible, but are pretty awkward to install. They also don't seem to be very to secure. If my cat decides to brush past the curtain, the whole thing falls down. I've tried tightening them, but since it's based on tension, the more I tighten it, the more they want to pop off the frame of my window. It also doesn't help that you have to place the frame against the window, twist and extend the device while keeping it level and straight, AND do all this while your curtains are flopping and flapping you in the face because you have to have the curtains on the rod before you install it.They don't look bad though.

Sticks to my window like glue!
Have these since June of last year and they've held on quite well. I sometimes move my curtain and it remains immobile. I recommend getting this if you're afraid of drilling a hole in your wall.

Easy to use no tool curtain rod!
I really liked the rod because it keeps me from using screws. I do not like screws and in a rental, that is not good. I saw this rod on amazon and decided to give it a try. The rod is overall, easy to use. You simply take it out of the package and pull the extending side to fit securely to your window. The only frustrating part for me was figuring out how to tighten the rod to keep it from moving. I did follow instructions but the rod kept moving. Therefore, I decided to put a small mark on the rood so that I could tighten it where it needs to go even if it moves. This helped a lot. To tighten you need to twist in the middle to get it to work. I have vertical curtains and they had a curtain box onlver. I was able to install this rod under the box and added the curtain. I ended up covering the box with a black cloth so it would not show. The first picture shows the rod with the curtain on..the finished look. The other picture shows how the rod latches on to the wall and you can partly see the curtain box covered by the black cloth. I installed the rod under it.Hope this helps!

Not such an easy install. Works but not on doors.
It wasn't really easy to install. It took awhile to align just right when you twist to tighten within the window. I ordered 2 but the second was already tightened so much i couldn't untighten and had to get a replacement. The 2nd one was for my balcony door, but wouldn't stay in properly because of the door framing. The braces at the end of the rod can't fit into the surface of the door frame. Still, when I installed it in my window it works great and is sturdy.

First try this, worth a try, then choose wisely
I have a studio apartment and I need curtains. The only kicker is, the window frame didnt support certain Rods due to the location of the A'C unit. No space for it. This rod came in handy! I never knew they made such a rod. So worth the try. I only have had it for 1 week but I for the least movement, if you don't have heavy curtains, something you wont move or touch often, its worth it. Such a great idea as an alternative to normal rode with screws.. Try it
