How is it different from other WD drives sold for 99$?

The 99 dollar models transfer on my computer at around 90 MB sec, bought this USB-c model without realizing it was different, only transfers at 35 MB sec on same computer, considerably slower for more money, stay away.

What cable will I need to get to connect this to a usb3 port?

Requires a USB-C cable. I purchased one for $10 at my local computer store.

Can I boot from this drive on a mac? In other words, is it bootable?

Yes, if you format the drive in Mac native format, and use a clone application like Bombich Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC), the external drive should be bootable on your Mac. You have to have macOS copied over, for it to be bootable. You hold down the option key when booting, to get a boot device selection menu during the boot.

Good to use with a crome pixelbook (chrome os) ?

The short answer is YES. You will need to format the external hard drive through your files (blue) folder. However, before doing that, connect the external drive to your USB port and try to save a file to the hard drive. If it works fine, then you don't need to reformat. Hope that helps.

Un producto de primera calidad, con unos acabados y diseño notables. La experiencia de uso de momento genial. Ha sido conectarlo al mac y en poco más de media hora aproximadamente ha realizado una copia de casi 500gb. A nivel sonoro, diría que es imperceptible. Muy satisfecho con la compra.

Dopo anni di onorato servizio ho dovuto sostituire un analogo hard disk western Digital, in quanto il settore del disco era non leggibile/danneggiato. Hard disk compatto, di nuova generazione, bello da vedere, leggero e sottile. Buone performance riguardo il trasferimento dei dati grazie alla porta usb c (presente adattore usb 3.0). Si può anche utilizzare con windows 10 scaricando appositi driver o riformattando l'unità. Consigliato l'acquisto anche per la garanzia di affidabilità del marchio. Spedizione Amazon Prime velocissima con consegna in locker, in alcuni casi si spreca meno tempo che andare in un negozio fisico tradizionale.
