Can this be used longterm on vehicle carpet and plastic or will the adhesive eventually cause damage?

Yes it can, it won't damage the carpet, you may need to lightly clean the carpet when you do remove it.

Why on earth is there writing on it?

its for dealers ....im sure someone make a clear one....

Do these have the texture and thickness of saran wraps? Thank you.

It's a pretty thick film, not thin and stretchy like saran wrap.

Is it OK to keep it applied for forever/as long as it last?

I keep it applied as long as it sticks. That’s a while if you don’t have a lot of traffic in your vehicle. Hope this helps.
