Amazing quality
I love the hard anodized cookware from All Clad. It is well made and mine has lasted with no scratches or issues with the coating wearing off for over a year of use now. This pot is awesome, as the strainer can be used to steam or drain. Super easy to clean. Great heavy bottom for even heating.

Love it
I always wanted one of these, love the pot but using the strainer insert is very messy. I cook the pasta in the pot and put the strainer in the sink. Also use it to make stews and so on. Great for Browning meay and veggies.

Beautiful dutch oven, compact design but very heavy & well made
This is a terrific steam, poach & stew pot. I grew up calling these dutch ovens, and they were labeled as such on several cookware sets I have purchased over the years. IDK -- maybe these days, the term dutch oven refers to the cast-iron type only, but either way, I'm going to call this a dutch oven... I prefer cooking with stainless steel or cast iron, but everyone else in the family seems to like non-stick better (which is actually fine with me since I don't need to worry about them being careless with my expensive cookware, now that I can afford some). I received a non-stick dutch oven a few years ago & my husband and kids just love to use it although it has definitely seen better days and the interior is starting to become scratched. I was looking to replace it when I ran across this gorgeous pot through the Vine program. I know how great All-Clad's made in the USA line of D5 stainless steel cookware is because I have been fortunate enough to pick up a few skillets and saucepans on sale. I don't have any of their dutch ovens or stock pots, however (at least, not yet...) I wasn't familiar with All-Clad's import line or their non-stick cookware however, but knowing the quality, I was more than happy to give this dutch oven a try. When it arrived, I was surprised by how heavy it was. It is definitely a very well made, sturdy piece of cookware. The dark grey anodized aluminum is beautifully finished and the smooth non-stick coating is black with a slightly sparkled appearance after seasoning. Seasoning is easy -- just wash & dry the pot, apply a light coating of oil & rub in, heat on the stove for several minutes at medium heat & allow to cool, then wash & dry again. I ordered the six-quart dutch oven and it is the perfect size for a family of six or for preparing large batches of soups, stews & chili. This is a heavy-duty dutch oven -- it is much weightier than my 30 year old stainless steel dutch oven, which is the last remnant of an old set of cookware but is still going strong. The sides of this dutch oven are very thick & heavy, and the bottom is even heavier. The handles are stainless steel and are also very robust and are securely attached to the pot. The glass lid fits well and is nice for keeping an eye on the food while it is cooking. It has a sturdy handle as well. The stainless steel basket insert is similarly well made, with very smooth rolled edges, but is a bit smaller than I expected. It feels very sturdy -- much stronger than the light weight aluminum basket that came with one of my stock pots (and that discolored with use). It has wire handles with a coating to make it easy to lift. It is raised approximately one inch above the bottom of the dutch oven and extends to about two inches below the rim. The functional part of the insert is about 8" in diameter by about 2" deep so I would estimate the capacity at about 1 1/2to 2 quarts. Of course this will work great for steaming veggies, but isn't really big enough for my family if I happened to be making tamales, for instance. For anyone looking to make pasta in a large quantity of water, this might not be large enough (plus it would be pretty hare to get the insert out -- not that this is advertised as a pasta pot). This works great in the oven or on the stove top for making soups and stew. It heats evenly and retains the heat well after cooking is done. Clean up is easy. I think this dutch oven is of excellent quality, and it looks great as well. It fits right in with my other All-Clad cookware. The price seems quite reasonable given how durable and well made this pot is. I see no reason why it won't last for years with a little TLC. I noticed that many of the reviews so far are for the 7 quart size. I have the 6 quart size, but they are the same price, so unless someone is cooking for one or two or has very limited storage space, I would recommend purchasing the larger size to just to increase the versatility. Just as an aside for those looking at some of the other pieces in the Essentials line by All-Clad, I also have the square stew & simmer pot in this line and in my opinion, this dutch oven is much heavier and nicer, so if the choice is between one or the other, I would recommend the dutch oven...
