Awesome quality.
Excellent quality and finish. Aggressive shave but very comfortable if using proper technique.

Perfection
I have been using DE safety razors for approximately 30 years, and I have amassed quite the collection, from multiple varieties of Merkur’s, Edwin Jagger, and Parker, to a half dozen of Muhle’s; some collect shoes and hand bags, and clearly I have an affinity for safety razors, haha. For the past 15 years I have exclusively used open comb razors, as I find they provide a superior outcome, like a straightedge, but also like a straightedge you cannot shave passively with these razors. In my strong opinion, Muhle’s open comb razors (e.g. R41) are the best, though they are NOT for beginners. For beginners, I would recommend Parker, as it shaves very similarly to Edwin Jagger’s, which are gentle. This noted, Muhle’s Traditional Grand R41 (stainless steel) is PERFECT. Yes, it is expensive, but worth every penny; it’ll be the last razor you ever purchase. The “comb” is essentially the same as the chrome R41, but the handle size—both length and diameter—are larger, but perfectly so. And the razor is heavier, much heavier, but also perfectly so. Of course the craftsmanship is exceptional!

Disapointed with a stainless device that rusts....
I own a MUHLE R41 GRande Closed Comb and love it... decided to buy the STAINLESS Open Comb which costs a lot more and unfortunately rust is building up on the comb. I only use FEATHER on both razors and no rust on my R41. I believe I got a razor with a defective comb - probably missing a finishing step on the inner coating. I wish I could return it but rust took months to appear... Would love to get at least new combs from the seller.

Not Quality Assurance
Item arrived like it was used. For an expensive razor it is unacceptable the way it arrived

R41 Stainless Steel Material Upgrade Success
I own the zink alloy version and used it so much it became my daily driver, so I upgraded to this stainless steel version which my son ordered for me here. The ordering and delivery process went smooth and the product is flawless. My standard r41’s handle is made from chrome plated brass while the head is made from chrome plated zinc alloy. It’s an amazing design and perfectly chrome plated. In fact, it was so well crafted it stood proud alongside my more expensive stainless steel razors and became my daily driver.I bought this stainless steel version because I prefer that material over the zink alloy. This company is obviously committed to quality and both versions are well crafted. To be clear, a mold for zink alloy cannot be copied identically within the stainless steel manufacturing process. They did an amazing job trying to replicate the same details, but there are extremely slight modifications, mainly with the teeth, due to the required structural differences inherent in manufacturing stainless steel. This also applies to the textural pattern depth on the handle, in which the imprint is slightly less deep.As a designer, I’m absolutely blown away with both versions of the r41 (zink alloy and stainless steel) in terms of design and craftsmanship. Both are the most efficient razors out there while also being extremely mild on the skin if used properly. The stainless steel version, however is more efficient/aggressive in my humble opinion. Many reviewers have noted the heavier weight of the material as the cause, and perhaps that does contribute to some degree, but I personally think the extremely slight detail modifications for the stainless steel material within the teeth is the main reason. I actually have no issues with the more aggressive difference as it is slight and easy to compensate for. Overall, they did a really amazing job overcoming the challenges of bringing this design into a new material and nearly duplicating the original which is really a great achievement.I have no issue with the handle being slippery as many have pointed out, but agree that an updated deeper texture and new pattern design would help the user have a better grip. I assume the company has personal reasons, as there is so much history involved with this razor design they simply want to keep it as is. With that said, their marketing department is missing out on offering additional accessory options such as more handle design choices to provide better grips and customization. This would increase their revenue while answering many customer complaints at the same time. Oh well, back to sleep boys. With that said, this stainless steel version is worth adding to your den, and I will use the zink allow version for travel, etc. I should also mention this version makes beard detailing a very easy process, in that it feels a bit more precise in regard to edging and details. So, the r41 in general is truly an amazing design solution providing smooth and efficient shaves with superb craftsmanship. This company is certainly committed to quality on every level and it shows.Note for people who heard this is a bloodthirsty beast. Not true. Negative reviews kept me away from the r41 until i finally tried it. Wasted so much time and learned a lot about reviewers. So let me help you. Ready? If you have good technique (be honest with yourself) then this is the tool for you. If you do not have good technique (seriously, stop it and be honest with yourself) then YOU will cut yourself. Ok, hope that helps.

Serious Blade
I upgraded to this razor form another well known brand. I was originally talked into buying a beginners version of a double edged razor but it barely gave me a decent shave so I wound up getting rid of it. This one is way more aggressive. You need to be very careful and light with your hands or else you will get cut. This is what I was looking for. I hope to get my technique down better so I don't get as many cuts but this definitely gives you a close shave.
