Pure Mathematics for Pre-Beginners: An Elementary Introduction to Logic, Set Theory, Abstract Algebra, Number Theory, Real Analysis, Topology, Complex Analysis, and Linear Algebra

Very clear methods of explanation.

(1) I bought this book for teaching my students. (2) In my opinion, a good math author needs to do at least three things: (a) Explain the mathematical symbols that the author thinks the readers don't understand. (b) Explain the mathematical concept in laymen language patienly. (c) Provide practical examples whenever possible. (3) The author of this book did a good job on the first few pages of this book on (a) & (b). The rest of the book is just like other introductory texts or SAT/AP review books. For instance, for the first chapter of this book on SET, you can compare this book with Barron's/Princeton SAT Math 2 Review book, they are more or less the same. (3) Readers can learn the same by Google the Internet or by reading standard texts or public exam review books. (4) I am very disappointed by this author. By reading the first few pages of this book, I know this author can write excellent math book. But, in my opinion, this author lost his patience after writing the first few pages. I feel sorry for this author. (5) If this author is patient to write his books, I am willing to pay 10 times more to buy his books. It is extremely cheap to spend $500 for learning pure math! (6) I have sent this book back for refund.

Requires close attention to follow through to the end, later chapters build on prior chapters.
