I love that this comes as a package, and you can separate the thermostat and heat pad if you choose to use each item separately. Much more cost efficient to buy a kit rather than separate thermostat and mat! If you use a heat mat with any live animals you should always use a thermostat! It took a while, maybe an hour, to get up to temp but maintains its temperature very well. I keep them 92°-95° in their warm area, I do not use loose substrate with my leopard geckos. This mat could easily go much hotter if you were to use loose substrate and need the heat to penetrate the material. I also use this set up for my Pac-Man frog, and another for my dubia roach colony.

I picked this up for our family’s bearded dragon during an unusually cold Florida winter. Normally we don’t need supplemental heat like this, but this year was different and I wanted to make sure she stayed comfortable. After comparing a few options and reading through reviews, this one stood out because of the built-in thermostat and digital display, and I’m glad I went with it. Setup was quick and straightforward. I placed it under the tank (this heater has several different setup variations), set the thermostat to a steady 80°F, and it’s been holding that temperature consistently without any issues. The digital display makes it easy to monitor and adjust as needed. I’ve been running it for about four months now with zero problems. It does exactly what it’s supposed to do and gives peace of mind that the enclosure stays at a stable temperature. If you’re looking for a complete, reliable reptile heating solution, this is a solid choice.

I thought I was buying a heating pad, basically what you're buying is a controller that comes with a free heating pad. I can't believe the price of this, I would expect at least $50. Especially considering that it is for pet use. It is a temperature controller, displays current temp inside tank, and has a separate permanently wired temp sensor that sticks to the inside of the tank with a suction cup. The suction cup works very well, even after repeated removals. The heating pad plugs in separately to a 110v plug on the controller. You can use any 110v device, I would only recommend using a heater or heat lamp though lol. I suppose you could wire it into a stereo, and when the temperature gets above your set point it starts playing Jimi Hendrix. The problem with that, is you then have to figure out whether or not your reptile is more of a country fan, or a rock fan.. The heating pad is completely covered with adhesive on one side for sticking to OUTSIDE of the tank. It's a lot larger than I expected, although I didn't look too see what size I was buying - I just expected smaller. The instructions say multiple times to place on the outside of the tank, so be aware of that. Also, it is absolutely not supposed to be placed on wood or anything other than glass, according to the instructions, so be aware of that. After reading the instructions, and being aware of that, I decided to just set it under the tank, on top of wood. It wasn't even real wood. It was crap particle board. Maybe the glue in the particle board increased its thermal properties, but I doubt it. I think it's more probable that the heating pad doesn't get hot enough to catch wood on fire. I didn't stick it to the tank because we are replacing the tank in a month. I then decided to move the tank and stick it to the side of the tank temporarily, so I removed a half inch or so (ended up being about an inch) of the adhesive backing all the way around the edge of the heating pad and stuck it to the glass so that I can remove it, and the rest of the adhesive is unused for the new tank. If this is not an absolute permanent fixture on your tank, I would advise sticking it to the tank using only a little bit of the adhesive (by removing small sections of at the adhesive backing to expose only small areas of adhesive). You will never get this off the tank in reusable condition if you use the entire adhesive sheet. I probably exposed too much adhesive. It's going to be a pain when I go to remove it.

In this (admittedly non-typical) case the task is keeping the interior of an oven at 77–78° F. to control proofing conditions for bread dough. It takes a while to get the temp to the desired point, but it works as desired. The thermostat switches the heating pad on when the air temp inside the oven drops exactly 2° below the target temperature. That's just right for my purposes. The controls are easy to use. A quick glance at the instructions and you'll have it working in moments. It's accurate: While testing the heater I also kept a Thermoworks "Spot" thermometer inside the oven. As I write the review the Spot is displaying 78.3° and the BN-LINK thermostat is displaying 78.4°. One downside: It's good that the thermostat's power cord is heavy-duty, but it arrived so tightly coiled that I had some trouble getting it to relax and straighten out. It's a minor annoyance, not a deal-killer. (4 stars for now as I don't know yet how long the equipment will hold up.)

Used for 2+ years and kept my 36 gallon tank at 80°F during the -10°F winter. Easy to use and very accurate.

Been using this since day 1 on my reptiles enclosure. It helps keep the heat levels constant and appropriate on the warm side. Kind of hard to figure out how to set up at first. I say it’s a fair price, been using it for 6 months and it’s still working. The suction cup that comes with it ducks though, the thermometer kept falling. Numbers are nice and bright so you can see what it’s set at and keep track of it. Please ALWAYS use a thermometer with these heat mats to prevent injury to your pets and make sure to instal them correctly. It goes outside of the enclosure on the bottom and use plenty of substrate to keep lizards and/or snakes from getting burned from direct contact. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

It charges fast!

I've been trying to get this heat mat above 68.1 for a few days- I've tried without the thermostat as well and it does not go any higher. Its only on a 10 gallon. I've tried different outlets as well- the red heating light stays on but the temp won't increase. Using this for hissing roaches- they really need a temp around 80. I have the thermostat set to 85 and nothing.

The heat pad seems to be working very well. My gecko is very happy and warm. I recommend it to anyone who needs a heat pad with temperature control for there critters.

Have it as belly heat for my ball python. Keeps her nice and toasty to properly digest at 90 degrees. Good large size. Easy stick design.
