Target, Sephora, and Ulta scanned and charged my visa while still in my wallet in my hand while I was swiping a different card. Today I went to Target to the same machine and put my wallet directly on the card reader and flipped my wallet to both sides. It completely blocked it from charging my visa. It works against store card readers.
