Siglent Technologies SDS1052DL+ 50 MHz Digital Storage Oscilloscope

I bought this for some occasional signal analysis of a wide variety of signal types. I wasn't sure if I'd need the dual trace, but for this price and the full-feature set, I figured I better get it just in case. Turns out I was able to make use of the dual trace and I really like the easy set-up and two-color traces. I only tested the signal recording feature to see how it works, but have not yet had to use it for real-world testing. It's highly portable and has all the features I could want. AC, DC, digital, data bus and other applications are easily handled. Decent quality, but not like the old Tektronics05/04/2020 Update: I've now had some lab and field use of this scope and am very pleased with it. I've especially liked the ability to save both the signal data and the measurement data onto a thumb drive. When you save the raw signal data, you can bring it back into the scope and make range adjustments, which will then change the appearance of the screen trace (nice!). Have had no issues. Used it to monitor a few circuits I am breadboarding, both TTL logic and analog stuff. Also used it in the field for troubleshooting various signals. Wish I had a 4-trace unit now! Nothing bad to say about it at this time.

It's been longer than I care to admit since I last used an oscilloscope, but I needed one to perform some tests on a flight control system that I'm building. After spending some time playing with the scope after I unboxed it, I went to the manufacturer website and downloaded the full manual. Within a few hours, I was back into the swing of things.This is a well-made scope, and it's definitely worth the price. It has a sturdy, well-made case and the user interface is pretty clear to use. If I had ever used a digital scope before, it probably would have been more intuitive. Plus, as I said, it's been a few years so I had to re-learn some skills.

Additional comments: It is now 8 months later, and I like it even more. I contacted the company once with a question, which they answered promptly and clearly. Two weeks ago, one of the probes became an open circuit, so I sent an e-mail, got a prompt reply with instructions, and I now have a new probe. Great product, great customer service.Original review: If you are thinking about buying a box to convert your computer to an oscilloscope, think twice, and spend a bit more money for this unit instead: This is a very impressive instrument at a remarkably low price. The controls are fairly straightforward, although I do use research-grade equipment at work so I have some experience. The FFT feature is very useful, I've been using it to measure harmonic distortion on a vintage stereo amplifier that I am restoring. The on-line manual is pretty good, although it would benefit from an edit by a a native-English speaker. So far I've found a lot to like, and nothing at all to dislike.

Nice Oscilloscope. Made in China / North Korea.As a retired engineer, I'm now just a hobbyist. So my needs are pretty simple and this oscilloscope satisfies those needs quite well.Presently, I own a CRT Hitachi 100MHz oscilloscope. Because of its 22 pound weight I often dreaded getting it off-the-shelf to use it. With this new lightweight oscilloscope that will no longer prove to be a barrier.Three disappointments; 1) The software they provide it is not compatible with more advanced computer operating systems. 2) A printed copy of the full manual is not provided. A PDF of this manual is available online. 3) No dustcover is provided nor is one available for purchase separately.I was able to utilize the oscilloscope for simple functions without referring to any manual. At first I was concerned because the display turned off all by itself. A reference to the FULL manual showed this is a screen saver and this time can be changed, or turned off in Utilities > Screen Saver.I did some testing with a signal generator and in some cases I could not make the signal stabilize. I suspect this is operator error and not the fault of the oscilloscope.

Works well for all bread board and basic entry level engineering labs.

I wasn't going to review this scope, until I saw online that many other have had this issue over the years. I purchased this scope in 2018, used it a few dozen times over the years with the latest about a month ago. It worked great. Then this morning, it would not boot up, just stuck on the logo screen. The fan works and the buttons light up. I tried unplugging the unit for over an hour, I tried repeatedly pushing the math button after power up, all to no avail. I emailed Seglent, but I am not optimistic.

I wanted a DSO and it was between this or a used Tek. I need it for casual usage while working on audio equipment and it's been great for that purpose. Very easy to use menus and very logical layout. So far no issues. The only limitation is that for Audio use, the FFT is about useless. You can not get the resolution you need between 20-20K to be useful. It's nice to be able to grab screenshots to a thumb drive. Overall very happy with the purchase.

As an "old" electronics tech, I was really surprised that you could get a fairly good o'scope for for under $300! I've used very expensive scopes in the my time in the service (10 years) and as a tech in my civilian job ( 34 years). But now that I'm retired and trying to restore a 1960 tube guitar amplifier, I needed a scope to sniff out some popping, hissing and crackling. The Siglent helped me accomplish it. It's small, light weight and is just what I needed to do my troubleshooting. I'd definitely recommend it. If you are looking to use it for RF range frequencies, check the specs before you buy. It's great for tracking audio signals.

Excellent product and gives value for the money spent. My use is basically for repair of radio and Audio equipment, for which the unit is a reliable service aid.

En pocas palabras: obtienes lo que pagas. Es un osciloscopio básico y barato que funciona bien dentro de sus limitaciones.Compré este osciloscopio para usarlo en proyectos de hobby. Funciona bien, con algunas limitaciones. Algunos menús son un poco dificiles de usar (no los he probado en español, de hecho no se si tiene menús en español), pero casi todos son muy similares a los de otras marcas (como tektronix). La pantalla se ve bien y tiene suficiente resolución. Los problemas o limitaciones que he notado, menores la mayoria pero aún así relevantes, son los siguientes:1. El trigger de nivel parece no funcionar algunas veces cuando la división de tiempo tiene valores grandes (del orden de centenas de milisegundos) a pesar de que la señal cambie en escalón de un valor bajo estable a un valor alto estable. Con una división de tiempo pequeña el trigger parece funcionar siempre bien.2. A diferencia de Tektronix, que tiene la opcion de seleccionar dos velocidades en la mayoria de las perillas, este osciloscopio tiene una sola velocidad: baja. Entonces para hacer un zoom o cambiar algun valor (como cambiar la división de tiempo de un valor muy pequeño a uno muy grande) es necesario darle muchas vueltas a las perillas, más de lo que me gusataría.3. Cuando el menú en pantalla es escondido o mostrado y hay una captura en progreso la misma se reinicia. Esto es sobre todo notable si hay una captura en progreso con una división de tiempo grande (como 2 segundos por división).4. La función matemática de transformada rápida de Fourier (FFT) es una broma, aunque ni esperaba que la incluyera. Los resultados parecen más una prueba de concepto hecha por un estudiante que algo confiable. No tiene escalas ni una buena resolución. No he probado otras funciones matemáticas.Hay muchas otras funciones que no he podido usar, como guardar capturas de pantalla. Tampoco he hecho comparaciones sobre su precisión contra otros instrumentos.Como referencia, en mi trabajo utilizo osciloscopios continuamente desde los más sencillos hasta algunos más avanzados, pasando por analizadores de protocolo y lógicos. Usualmente son Tektronix. No me considero un experto en la materia pero definitivamente tengo bastante experiencia en su uso.RESUMEN FINAL. Buen osciloscopio para hobistas o usos básicos. No lo recomendaría para algo más profesional.

Purchased for electrical engineering studies. Easy to use, quick to learn its many function. No need to run to the school for lab prep any more. Does everything that the school labs require. Frequency readings are very accurate, we compared with another scope and a frequency counter. Bonus points: Very light, easy to put away.

I've used oscilloscopes in the past at work, but this is the first one I purchased for my own electronic hobby bench. The price is very reasonable for an average hobbyist like myself, and it has all the features I really need, and more. I found it quite easy to use and intuitive. I initially considered one of the cheaper single channel scopes that's out there, but I'm really glad now I spent a little more to get the better resolution and more features. This is only a 50 Mhz unit, but again I think its more than I'll ever need. It comes with two matching probes that are each good for 1x (150V RMS) or 10x (300 V RMS) with the flick of a switch.
