Good content and a quick read! Great for anyone on an EOS journey or just wanting to be a better boss!

I liked the simplicity of the message- this was a quick read. As with Wickman’s other books about the EOS- (Traction and Get a Grip), there are useful forms included and helpful lists and exercises to lead and manage others. This book will be most useful for entrepreneurs who want to be great leaders and managers of people in their organizations, and likely don’t have HR professionals on staff to advise them. The only reason I didn’t rank this a 5 is that I am a tough rater, and this didn’t include any new information for me- it covers the basics, so is a good refresher for some who already know these principles.

Like many of the other books related to the Entreprenuerial Operating System (EOS), it contains a lot of the same information. So if you have read Traction, Rocket Fuel, etc. you will find a lot is repeated. That said, as a new integrator in a small company that has been implimenting the EOS system over the last few years, I'm a big fan of the EOS model and think a few more dollars for another book to help round out your EOS tool set is well worth it. Our company's visionary and I have started discussing chapter by chapter the contents of this book.

I got the book for my daughter, she's a manager. It turns out that she is already doing most of the things described, but there were some suggestions relating to difficult employees that was useful . It did broaden her knowledge and gave her more confidence in her job . It would be helpful to anyone stepping into a managerial position.

Probably my favorite section about how to deal with undesirable behaviors from employees (this is the type of actionaable thoughout this book): If your direct report fails to deliver and doesn't see or admit they are not delivering, you have to identify the issue(s), have three examples per issue, ensure that person acknowledges and agrees that they're below the bar you've set before determining an appropriate action plan, have a meeting with them to correct it via an action plan. Do this two-months in a row and fire at the end of the second month.

I've read Traction, and am well into the process of implementing it with our leadership team. Unfortunately, I've since experienced meaningful conflict with three of my five direct reports. As a result of this book, I have created an Excel workbook with specific action items I will employ to become a great boss. With two of these three, I'm confident these actions will lead to significant realignment and organizational improvements. Time will tell for the other leader, but I am at peace with the plan drawn from this book, and comfortable that the organization and people will be better for the effort.

overall a good read. Only negative, it seems designed to get you to use their larger program which would be a large purchase. But I did think it was worth it overall.
