Replaced original Rush72 with 2.0
I've just replaced my original rush72 (after 8.5 years service) with the latest 2.0 version. I seemed to have lost quite a few handy little pockets and fiddly bits but gained a couple of bigger ones. I expect it'll grow on me.* There used to be a way to thread a tube from the rear hydration compartment through the back of the main compartment and up through one of the X slits either side of the carry handle, which had velcro'd tabs covering them when not used. This facility is no longer present. On the upside, the water compartment now has a two-part zip (rather than a standard zip), although rather than allowing a singe opening anywhere along the zip, these serve to open up from the bottom of each side! Maybe I'm overlooking something?* The back of the main compartment now has a padded laptop pocket. This replaces an unpadded pocket with drawstring, but a zipped mesh pocket has also been lost.* The front of the main compartment now has the same three pockets, but the top one used to have zips at the top and bottom of the pocket which was useful if you just wanted to open the top a bit and let the pocket flap down - the bottom zip became the 'top' which was handy but not the end of the world.* The two side pockets have each lost two interior pockets, which will be particularly missed.* The smaller zipped pouch on the front has lost an interior pocket, which was useful. It also a shame the opportunity was not taken to have a two-part zip rather than a standard zip, so the front pouch is now even less convenient to use than it was before with more risk of things falling out when the pouch has to be opened.* The larger two-part zipped compartment on the front has lost two pockets, which were handy.* Two drainage holes at the bottom of the bag have been removed. In my experience they were just as likely to let water in when the bag was on wet ground/puddle. Another drainage hole has been removed from the rear of the hydration compartment, which seemed to have a more useful purpose.* New large velcro'd CCW pocket at back of 'shove-it' compartment (under the smaller zipped pouch). I don't have a CCW, but another pocket is always welcome.
