Any tricks to this? Or did I just get a defected product. The product I received has a valve on the bottom corner and one in the pillow.

Open the valve on the pillow (this is actually the pump/bottom), put a sock on and repeatedly step on the pump area with your foot until it's inflated - maybe 50-60 steps. Once inflated to your liking, close the valve on the pump area. To deflate, open the valve on the bottom corner only (on the actual pillow section) before folding and rolling it back up. Hope this helps.

Is this pad loud or relatively quiet when moving around? Meaning so you hear the crinkling of the material of the pad?

Loud. Sounds like my #45 four year old is sleeping on top of a chip bag. *Crinkle rustle rustle crinkle* ... All night long.

Does the manufacturer have an answer for the R value? I see this question has been asked several times, but no one gave the number...

The R-value measures the mat’s ability to keep you warm. The higher the number, the lower the temperature can be while still being comfortable. Gear Doctors (on Amazon) has a 1.5” foam mat with an R-value of 4.3, but it’s only 22” wide. It’s about $42.
